A Chief Ministers' Wisdom!Recently Guru's 144th birth anniversary was celebrated the usual way with the pompous presence of ministers and polititians. Here is a report as it appeared in Mathrubhumi Daily (14th September 2000) (in Malayalam font matweb). Here is the same news summary as a jpg picture Click for the JPG image (only if you cannot read the following malayalam) ±ð-Eê-jê-i-X-zê-d-E-qïv -lt-Lð-iY öO-sñ-ñ:- -hñ-Ká-h-Ôï Yï-jñ-l-E-dñ-jù:- -mï-l-Lï-jï-÷dê-kñÈ -±ð-Eê-jê-i-X-bt zê-d-Ew-¼ú -hñ-J-qïv Dit-ªñ-lª -lt-Lði m-¹ï-J-öq -Yñ-j-ï-lï-Têu J-rï--Yú -C-T-Yñ-hñ-ª-Xï ot-¼ê-jï-öus -g-j-X-÷E-hê-öX-ªú -hñ-Ká-h-Ôï C.-öJ.- -Eê-i-Eêt -A-gï-ê-i-ödç-ñ.- 146_ê-h-Yú ±ð-Eê-jê-iX -Q-i-ï-÷iê-T-Eñ-f-ï-Oþú -öO--r-ï Lñ-jñ-Jñ-k-ïv -où-M-Tï-dçï-Oþ h-Y-oø-pêt -o-÷-q-Eù -Daú-Mê-T-Eù öO-Âú -où-oê-jï-¼ñ-J-iê-iï-jñ-ªñ -A-÷-pù.- -dð-V-Eù ÷Ejï-Tñª -A-b-ü-ÇY Q-EY-Jw-¼ú -F-lï-öT-iñù F-¼ê-k-ñù --o-¹-hêi o-÷>-m--qê-Xú -Lñ-jñ-÷a-l-÷us-Yú.- -Lñ-jñ-lï-öE -oô-Qð-lï-Y-ïv F--Jê-jù -oôð-J-jï-¼ñ-ªñ-öl-ª-Yï-kê-Xú -±ð-Eê-jê-i-Xð-it -h-¨-jï-÷¼-û-Yú.- lï-gê-Lð-i-Y-öi -öO-sñ-ñ-÷Yê-kçï-¼êu B -at-m-Ew-¼ú -J-rï-iñ-öh-ªú Jê-kù -öY-qï-iï-¼ñ-ªñ-öl-ªú -hñ-Ká-h-Ôï d-s-ñ.- F-oú.-Fu.- Ñ-ú Q-Esv -öo-Æ--sï öl-Èê-dç-Èï -E-÷T-mu A-bá-&Y -l-pï-Oþñ.- öO--r-ï-iñ-öT -lï-J-o-Eï-Eú -hê-t-dëêu Y-àê-sê-¼-X-öh-ªú -A-÷-pù A-gï-ê-i-ödç-ñ.- -mï-l-Lï-jï,- A-jñ-lï-dçñ-sù,- -öO--r-ï F-ªïl h-÷Y-Yj -Yðt-Zê-T-E ÷J-ÿ--qê-iï -ot-¼êt --Káê-dï-¼-Xù-_-öl-Èê-dç-Èï -B-l-máödç-ñ.- Marxists have always used lower-caste people as their vote bank. Free thinking and the reformation started by Guru helped the party very much, in the early years. [probably this prompted BJP man P. Parameswaran to write The leadership of the Communist movement in Kerala largely came from Sri Narayana Guru's community.(Organizer Oct 1997)] BJP leader seems to have failed to differentiate between vote bank and the leadership. Leadership of CPM/CPI was always in the hands of high-caste men with hiddden communal bias! On a social level, what did the low-caste people get from the Communist Parties in return? Practically not much. The number of lower caste MLAs in CPM or CPI has never been proportional to their vote bank! In the 60s Marxists claimed that all the ministries after 1967 (which was led by EMS) will be led by a lower caste person (the hidden hint was at Nr 2 in the EMS Cabinet K.R.Gowri!). In reality, when K.R.Gowri came close to that role, CPM went back on their promise. Out of nowhere, Mr Nayanar arose. Again in the last election another lower-caste person who was pitted as the CM, was mysteriously defeated, Mr Nayanar came back from retirement! (This forum doesn't care about what caste you are - high or low, so long as the person's views are forward looking and not based on caste and religion) If we look at the history of CPM/CPI they were always controlled by people who had a hidden communal bias! Only people like A.K.Gopalan sincerely shed the caste basis. Mr Namboodiripad was the leader of the masked men. They needed low-caste only as vote banks and only during the election. In a way, this is reminiscent of Americans welcoming the Mexican workers - welcome as low-paid workers with no rights, but not as a equals! At all defining moments in Kerala's political history, Communist Parties have gone damn against the lower caste interests. Defeat of R.Shanker in Attingal (with the help of one Arishtam Vaidyar's money), the pulling down of R. Shanker Cabinet by communal forces of Travancore, attempt to defeat V.M.Sudheeran with help from liquer contractors and the latest attempt to destroy S.N.College, Quilon....the list is endless. What about Communalism in Public Life? The question Nayanar has to answer is this: "Why is communalism still an issue in Kerala, a state ruled by only leftist parties since 1967? Why are more Marxists going to Sabarimala, whereas very few Gandhians (or old Congressmen, whom CPM brand as reactionaries) went on Sabarimala pilgrimage?" Communalism and caste monopoly is a social reality, and it is not an issue just for Sree Narayana Organizations.) Last year (1999) Kalakaumudi exposed CPM's true colour. They were asking the caste in the party membership form, distributed in Ernakulam, Trichur and Alleppy. Here is the copy:
The fifth line shamelessly ask: R¼Èߺî ØÎáÆÞÏ¢Q [Caste] This is a complete violation of all principles, of the Communist Movement as well as the essence of Guru's message: R¼ÞÄß çºÞÄßAøáÄí, ÉùÏøáÄí, ÕߺÞøßAøáÄíQ Q [In Malayalam font Kerala] Even the question about the 'the born class' [R¼Èߺî ÕVP¢Q] is meaningless today. And words like bourgeoisie and petty bourgeoisie are faithfully used in Malayalam. Recently there has been some ridiculous attempts by
Marxists and some vested parties to install E.M.S.
Namboothiripad as the champion of reformation in Kerala.
Recall that the same Namboodiripad, not long ago,
characterized old SNDP leaders as the flatterers of the
British Royalty and Empire. Obviously Namboodiripad
hadn't appreciated Kumaran Asan getting "pattum
valayum" from the Prince of Wales.
This also brings us to another area where CPM/CPI policies have been detrimental to the lowest in the society. First of all, misuse of Trade Union power destroyed the industries in Kerala, thereby making poor people poorer! Secondly the normal aided schools are all destroyed by the wrong policies of the Governments and the student strikes. Rich man sends his children to the expensive special schools. The poor man cannot afford them. They end up with the old aided schools (which were damn good in the olden days or even until late 70s) which today are good for nothing! In fact, after all these leftist rule, the vested establishments have tightened their grip on the educational institutions in the State. Note: It's not the intention of this Forum to enter into political issues. But when a leftist party is plotting against the very idea of Narayana Guru as the Father of Kerala Reformation, and when the SNDP Yogam leaders are becoming rubberstamps of political parties (CPM, BJP, Congress ... we don't care), one is forced to make some comments. |
