Someone dressed like Vash is chased off by Cliff Schezar. Meryl and Milly arrive at a deserted town looking for water but can't find any. Two travelers and their cat pass by discussing the location of Vash the Stampede. Milly and Merly arrive at the Schezar mansion and ask for Vash. They are handed glasses of water and see Vash. He eats their doughnuts again. Cliff Schezar invites them to come inside his mansion and explains his situation. Five days ago, someone had tried to kill him. He had advertised for a bodyguard like Vash as a joke and had got Vash. They are introduced to Marianne Aura Cayzen, the reason for the bodyguard. Meryl pulls Cliff aside and tells him that Vash isn't the real Vash. Cliff explains that no matter who showed up, they would be called Vash. Merly and Milly offer to be Cliff's bodyguards as well, in case the real Vash shows up. They end up as cooks in the kitchen. Vash tries to sneak a look at Marianne while she's bathing. Milly arrives and he tells her that he was patrolling the roof for evil spooks. Meryl sees Marianne coming from Cliff's study. At dinner Marianne protests that Cliff shouldn't be profiting from a natural resource and leaves. Vash goes to make his rounds and Cliff informs him that he had told Marianne to keep her curtain drawn. Vash enters Marianne's room while she was about to change and she sends him off after and imagined intruder. Vash runs into Meryl and Milly. He searches for Marianne, but can't find her. Cliff is missing as well. Meryl suspects that Marianne is behind the attempt on Cliff's life five days ago. Vash falls and activates a trick door. Marianne investigates Cliff's water factory and is discovered to be a Marshal. Cliff attacks her and Vash interrupts. Vash dodges Cliff's bullets. He uses a chip of ice to knock Cliff's gun off target and the generator explodes, releasing all the water. Vash walks away into the desert. Marianne says that she could almost fall for him.
