At the Tendo Dojo, Genma and Ranma fight before breakfast. When Kasumi calles them for breakfast, Genma dumps them both in the pond. Panda Genma holds up a sign saying that starting today, he has a part-time job. Female-form Ranma wrings out his shirt and asks if Genma is working for a zoo. Genma holds up a sign saying "wrong". Tendo walks up commenting on Ranma's morning workout and his eyes pop out at the sight of Ranma's bare chest. Ranma replies that he's just trying to keep in shape as Akane pours a kettle of hot water over him and yells at him for not having any feminine modesty. Ranma asks why he should have feminine. Akane responds by asking if he has no shame, which prompt Ranma to remark that that sounds funny coming from a tomboy like her. Kasumi asks Akane to stop by Dr. Tofu's after school and return a book Kasumi borrowed from him. Akane asks Kasumi to do it herself, explaining that today's not a good day for her.
Akane runs off to school, draggin Ranma behind her. Ranma yells at her to stop and is splashed with water along the way. Akane pins Ranma to the school gates and yells at him to keep his big mouth shut about her and Dr. Tofu. She suddenly notices that Ranma's changed into female form. The crowd of men waiting for Akane tell her that they've all decided to accept her engagement to Ranma and stop challenging her. Kuno appears, saying that the rumor they heard about Saotome Ranma defeating him is false. Kuno states that he will not admit defeat. One hundered, even two hundred kicks from a coward like Ranma do not even itch. Ranma asks who Kuno is calling a coward and says that Kuno simply can't admit that he lost. Kuno grabs female-form Ranma's hands, saying that he's pined to see his pigtailed goddess. Ranma says that he thought Kuno liked Akane and points out that she's watching. Akane tells Kuno that if he really loves the pigtailed girl, she won't stand in his way. Kuno declares that he loves them both and Ranma kicks him in the face.
Ranma astounds his classmates in gym class. A classmate mentions that Ranma studied gymnastics in China but Ranma corrects him that it was karate. His classmates question him about how far he's gotten with Akane and Ranma calls Akane a dorky chick. They watch Akane and the other girls play baseball. Ranma mentions that Akane already has a guy she likes and is hit in the face with a baseball that Akane hit on accident. One of his classmates asks why he didn't dodge it with his karate reflexes but Ranma says he had something on his mind.
On their way home, Akane appoligizes for hitting him with the ball. They find panda Genma sweeping in front of Dr. Tofu's house. Dr. Tofu asks if they know Mr. Saotome and they explain that he's Ranma's father. Dr. Tofu comments that there isn't much resemblence between them and asks what happened to Ranma's face. Ranma says that it was a little baseball accident and Dr. Tofu goes to get him some balm for it. The phone rings and Dr. Tofu asks Genma to answer it, but Genma points out that panda's can't talk after he picks up the phone. Akane answers the phone and then begins to leave. Ranma comments that he thought Akane liked Dr. Tofu but she stops him, pointing out that there's a girl Dr. Tofu likes who is on her way over. An old lady walks in and Ranma remarks about Dr. Tofu's taste. Akane tells him that it's a different girl. Kasumi walks down the street to return Dr. Tofu's book.
