Kuno accuses Ranma of hounding Akane as they prepare to fight and Ranma denies it as Akane points out he's only staying with her family. Kuno tells Ranma to be quiet as he attacks. Ranma dodges and Kuno cracks the wall where Ranma was standing. Kuno notices Ranma standing on the side of a tree and attacks again, missing Ranma while slicing the tree in half. Ranma yells at Kuno to hold on a moment. He appears in front of Kuno before Kuno can blink and tells him that Akane means nothing to him. He tells Kuno that if he wants a crazy, violent girl like Akane, he can have her. Akane throws Ranma's bag at him and Kuno slices it in half in another attempt to hit Ranma, who dodges again. Ranma attacks, nearly hitting Kuno when it starts to rain. Genma runs in in panda form with a kettle and snatches Ranma before anyone can see him change, knocking out Kuno in the process.
Genma takes Ranma to the P.E. Equipment Room where Ranma complains that he would have nailed Kuno if it hadn't rained. Akane appears in the window and tells him not to be so sure, pointing to a bruise on Ranma's throat from Kuno's sword. Ranma is amazed that he got a bruise even though Kuno didn't touch him. Akane tells him that if Kuno had hit him, he'd be breathing through a hole in his neck. Genma turns Ranma back to male form and Akane points out that Ranma and Kuno are an even match, but Ranma's not convinced. In classroom 2-E, Kuno examines his forehead where someone wrote 'Bufoon' without him remembering being touched. Kuno comments that he had thought Saotome was good, but that he misspelled 'Bufoon'. He writes what he thinks is the correct spelling on the chalkboard, but Nabiki corrects him. Kuno tells Nabiki that he detests her, and she's glad.
In classroom 1-F, the teacher berrates Ranma and Akane for being late. They're made to stand in the hall with a bucket of water in each hand. Akane blames Ranma for them being late, pointing out that she finishes her fight before school starts every morning. Ranma asks her what the fight was about and Akane tells him that Kuno declared that he will only permit people to date Akane if they defeat her in battle. In 2-E, Kuno is outraged to learn Ranma is Akane's fiancee. Nabiki tells Kuno that their parents decided Akane's going to marry Ranma. The teacher tells Kuno to stand in the hall. Kuno runs through the hallways in kendo gear saying that he forbids Ranma to marry Akane.
Ranma asks if Akane fights Kuno every morning and she replies that she somehow always manages to win. Ranma points out that when a guy fights a girl he doesn't use full strenght, and Akane tells him not to underestimate her. She asks him to fight for real sometime and he refuses. Ranma says that he could never fight a girl, to which Akane asks what if he were a girl and prepares to douse him with water. Ranma jumps to avoid a bucket of water thrown by Kuno, who shouts that he will never accept Ranma's engagement to Akane. Their classmates pop out of the classroom behind them to ask about the engagemnt. Ranma and Akane protest that it was a forced engagement, and Ranma dodges as Kuno slices one of his buckets in half. Kuno tells Ranma to stand his ground, but Ranma runs off telling him that the hallway is no place for a fight. The students chase after the two, saying that whoever wins the fight gets to date Akane. A teacher yells at them not to run in the hall. Ranma jumps out a third floor window and Kuno follows. The students comment that they're lucky there's a pool below them but Ranma protest that he's not lucky. They fall in the pool and Kuno surfaces while Ranma tries to swim away. Kuno grabs Ranma as she tries to get away.
