| S.A.C. Pilgrimmage 2003 |
| PHANTOM and PAPABEAR decided to yomp out to S.A.C. and visit the old site (used upto '94) on the way. Indeed, it was an Airsoft Pilgrimmage visiting all the places from their historic games. Meeting up with O.D. @ Throxemby Mere (where the first ever S.A.C. event began) they moved off with their 30lb webbing sets. They had no guns with them, just their overnight kit. O.D. was just out for a bike ride and to keep them company. Passing Raincliffe Woods and Forge Valley, the group stopped for a 5 minute snack near Wrench Green before pushing onto Hackness for dinner. O.D. departed for home and the remaining pair pushed on along the banks of the derwent river. Crossing the river, over huge stepping stones, they continued to Langdale Bridge. Entering Broxa Forest, they found a good spot to rest in sun. Deciding to make good speed on the last third of the trek, they saddled up and moved out. The route hugged the river and avoided the steep valley sides. After a while, they reached Lownorth Footbridge and turned East. 10 minutes later, they entered Scarey Corner. The Pilgrimmage was over. It had taken 4.5 hours of walking to crack the 18km+ yomp. Freshening up by the river, they stocked the cooler. The duo struck camp on the edge of Bear's Field. Making themselves comfortable, they were thankful for bringing their hammocks. With the sun going down they lit a BBQ that they had scavenged It was left over from last year's LOWNORTHSTOCK. Fishing out a radio, they made contact with CHURCH who had arrived at the car park. Force Recon were hot on his heels, with Chopper making it too. After tea, PAPABEAR and PHANTOM dug their bottles of wine out from the cooler and toasted the day while the sun went down. They rested up ready for SPEEDBALL... |
