| FAMAS SERVICE- This patient came in after the muzzle velocity dropped consistantly over the last few events. Last running at 250fps, it was booked into the SHACK. Closely inspecting the SUPERMAS, it was in good condition. With only limited scratching to the exterior, it was obviously not very old. Although the rifle was bought second hand. Removing the modular FAMAS shell, a degree of dust and forest floor had made it inside. Cleaning this up, I extracted the GEARBOX. The nozzle was very very dirty (as is normal for the first service). Indeed the seals were still intact showing that no-one had ventured inside before. Cracking the gearbox, I examined all the gears and piston teeth for wear or damage, but found none. Cleaning all the moving parts, I regreased them and reassembled the drive train. Checking the TRIGGER CONTACTS, I discovered a |
| not unseen, GEARBOX 1 fault: Arcing to the contacts has caused part to be burnt through. Cleaning all the carbon from the contacts then bending them to achieve maximum contact has solved the problem. Although a replacement would be nice, it could prove, unavailable. The Barrel was dirty (plenty of grease in it) so had numerous silicon push throughs, before the HOP was stripped and lubed. The gun was reassembled and test fired. Firing on automatic, it showed why it is the fastest AEG in Airsoft (1000 rpm). It chronographed at ***fps. Lastly, the owner expressed a wish to cycle his battery. In order to achieve a reliable memory and good capacity. The battery is 8.4V 2400mah. |
