Moving out, I made sure everyone knew about the booby trap. It was indeed a large patrol with 10 members that snaked along the bottom path, I covered the rear and monitored my radio. All seemed quiet and I hoped there would be no contact. I was relieved when I got to the target range, which meant the pointmen had entered scarey corner. Now the opposition would have to find us again.

I moved into the area positioning men as I went. Capt was covering the front door along with Sab who was in hard cover behind a  moss covered log. Stinger and Soap set up watching the field and edge of the treeline. Nitrox was half way along the ridge, with Nete and Nilz in position to cover the back door by the fenceline. Moving down to where I had dropped the flag, I met up with Mantis and Satan. We all cooked a meal, before calling in some of the sentries to eat/rest, while we assumed their positions. Some guys apparantly had left their snacks in the SAFE ZONE, so I got out my own and Satan donated some too. Moving around the positions, I handed them out to the hungry. Several players reported that they could hear voices uphill and it indeed sounded like Team 2s camp was on the plateau.

I planned to send out 2 patrols in the near future. Firstly, a patrol back to the gorse stash area, to see if Team 2 had raided our first LUP. I decided that if there was contact there, it would just make them think it was our base. While the second patrol would move to check out the Plateau. So with the brief to collect whatever kit they needed, I picked the first Patrol. The patrol leader would be Mantis and his team included Capt, Satan, Soap and Stinger. They set off along the bottom path, while the rest of us stayed on watch, covering the perimeter.
The Patrol gets down!
Using only minimal radio comms, we stayed upto date with their progress. After less than an hour, they returned to camp, with nothing to report. Although they had recovered their kit and now rested up and cooked some food. Once operational again, they returned to the perimter defense and we waited for a possible contact. I expected team 2, to be on patrol once again, searching for us. Getting into the forward observation trench, with Nilz, I briefed him that we would be going out on a RECCE patrol within the hour. In the meantime, we sat and waited. After 10 minutes, I got up from my position, signalling NILZ to keep down, I crept forward without my gun. Only 10m from our position, I reached down, and collected my can of STELLA from my Speedball stash. Standing up I cracked the ring pull and Nilz laughed. Getting back into cover, we had a swig of lager, before passing it to Sab, pass it on.I told him and we grinned.....

10 minutes later, after a debrief with Mantis,  moved off to collect my men. Nearing the back door, I was suprised to see them congregating in one position. As I approached them, I looked left and realised their was a UE player only 50m away, watching from the fenceline. Contact! I commented to Nilz, before turning around and legging it back along the ridge. At this point, I decided that we should counter attack. Moving off only 30m, I signalled Sab upto me and started to push forward towards the FOXHOLE, in an attempted sally. This was a mistake and I had not gathered enough information before commencing a counter attack. Only 20m away, I came under fire from the FOXHOLE itself and although diving prone behind a small tree, I was Hit instantly! The report had been that of a FAMAS and I presumed it had been RAZER who took me out. Getting up out of the bog, I realised that I was pretty soaked, including my bandolieer.  Yet, wasting no time, I ran off along the ridge and headed towards the PILLBOX Tag Zone, through the fields. I hoped the defense would hold out until I returned.
After a minute, I moved off quickly, not wanting to be sandwiched by the entire opposition. I guessed the attack would have got bogged down and that our attackers would still be in the same place. So moving quickly, I approached the FOXHOLE from the high ground and could see RAZER firing from nearby. Stalking closer, I was only 15m away when I opened fire, HITTING him in the back.

NUT had been the other attacker and now switched both his attention and MC51 to me. Yet I  had good cover and knew that NUT was cornered. As he withdrew I put down fire and repositioned uphill. When he made a dash for it, I had a clear shot and fired a large full auto burst, seeing my pellets HIT him, the attack was over. I didnt know if Chopper and Ghost were behind me, so legged it out of cover towards the back door. Clearing the ridge, at full tilt, I shouted FRIENDLY! only to be Hit in the chin instantly by NETEs M24. My face viel protected me, so I dashed straight upto his position and shook his hand, Nice shot, but luckily, it doesnt count!

Shots to the head or neck, only counts @ S.A.C. while Night Game Rules are in effect (9pm-12pm).

Sorry about that. I think I got 4 Tags in that attack!  replied Nete. I explained how I had got the last 2 tags but was pleased to hear that he had broken his duck.

Indeed, the 2 Tags of Netes were both confirmed at 50m range, proving his M24 to be a good gun and he to be an accurate shot. As noted by our opponents too.

I re-organised the defence and now expected a brief pause, followed by another probe or a direct attack. After 10 minutes, Mantis returned and informed me that he had been shot twice, in the engagement earlier. Turned out, that he had tried to do the same counter attack as me, once rejoining the game. Like me, he had suffered steam up and run right into Ghostshell and Chopper. He was annoyed with himself, but I just saw it as bad luck, considering he had just read the game, the same as me and we had both attempted the same manouevres.
To Page 5........
As I departed, I saw Mantis get up from his position, in an attempt to flank the attackers (just as I had attempted). I guessed he may well get tagged, just like I had, but could say nothing (due to being HIT). Making it to the Tag Zone, I signed back in, before checking round for an ambush. All was clear, so I shouted Back In and departed quickly. I was hot and steaming up abit, but decided to press on in a counter attack. I pushed off below the plateau and spotted Mantis heading to the Tag Zone through the field. Wasting no time I pressed on through the wooded terrain.

Stopping for a listen, I looked left and could see Ghostshell and Chopper (our oppos) moving near the top of the plateau. they stopped and Chopper looked right at me. I froze and waited, but still figured that I had been seen.

Turned out that I was not seen by either of them and they carried on unaware of my presence.
All Clear!
