HK 51 Carbine
This Lovely HK 51 Limited Edition TM AEG, has come into the shack for a SERVICE.

PAPABEAR and myself scrubbed up and set to work. We expected to find some wear inside, as this gun is mainly used in the support role.

The gun's front end is very solid and has no problems or wear.

Removing the stock we then popped the chassis in half.

So far...
Looking into the barrel it was apparant that it had never really been cleaned. It was caked with grease that had emigrated from the piston assembly. PAPABEAR removed the HOP control and cleaned the barrel with a PULL THROUGH.

Meanwhile, the EG1000 motor was extracted and apart from some metalic dust from the well used bushes; was fine.

The gearbox still had it's original seals, showing no-one had tampered with this aging gun. This was good news as many guns the Doctoir sees have been damaged by interfering owners.

W opened the mechabox. Which to my suprise turned out to be a Version 2 9unlike the MC51 and SG-1.
Opening th gearbox, the doctors found the internals to be lubricated by a very watery grease. the gun had obviously been heavily soaked @ some point.

Upon cleaning up all the internal parts, we discovered the gun had weathered well. With an even wear apparant everywhere. The gears had spread slightly, but had no cracks or broken teeth.

The piston, however, was heavily worn. Especially teeth 1-4. It would need replacement on the next service.

Grease had been thrown onto the trigger contacts and electrics. These were cleaned up and regreased with ABBEY products. The Fire select was tightened up to provide a much more positive feel.

Once the gun was reassembled; it was teast fired. We found the mech to be very quiet and incredibly fast with an 8.4v. Indeed, it was very hard to squeeze off single shots on semi.

JOB DONE.
