The AK47S was second hand and had been previously powered up by it�s original owner (M90 spring and Ball Raced gears). It had a CARROT SVD stock fitted. The gun was around 9 months old. It chronographed @ 325fps. It had no faults, but did have some external damage. It was in for a FULL SERVICE anyway. To find out what kind of shape it was in...
Once inside, it was apparant that it had been improperly greased (axle GREASE). It was indeed a gloopy mess. Although some GREASE had set rock hard! The BALL RACE was nowhere to be seen! The nylon piston, had terrible wear on the RACK. It was on it�s last legs, so the NEXT OF KIN consented to fitting a replacement PISTON (@ cost) A foreign body was found inside the PISTON CHAMBER. It had damaged the piston head slightly and embedded itself into the Soft CYLINDER HEAD. The Foreign body was removed carefully and identified as a Grub Screw!
The gun had to be depowered to use it @ SAC. (under 300fps).
The NEW Piston was fitted by WRAITH at cost price. All 3 gears showed signs of wear but had not broken teeth. The MOTOR Contacts and trigger mech were cleaned up. All the Gearbox was degreased and regreased before reassembly. Then the HOP unit was stripped and barrel cleaned thoroughly. The �seal� was only slightly worn, so was not in need of replacement.
The barrel was slighly scored, near the muzzle and fairly dirty too. We cleaned it up and polished it.
Upon test firing, the GUN averaged ---fps. Cycling smoother and faster. |
