Ben is Amy Gunderson's horse. We don't have any papers on him so we're not sure who his parents are. We are pretty sure he's a paint horse. His coloring is sorrel tovero, and he is a gelding. Ben is currently 7 years old but sadly acts like a 4 year old at times. This year is his? third year being shown. He isn't perfect yet, but is still learning. Amy is doing all of Ben's western show training by herself and is doing a great job. We bought Ben from a friend of our's named Lee and Diane Sackett. Then, Ben was a 5 year old and was just doing the basics of riding, he made a great trail horse that year. Now he is being molded into a show horse. Amy shows him in Showmanship, which is right now their best discipline. She has also shown him in walk/trot western pleasure, and once or twice in a canter class. Ben is in pasture mode right now due to Amy's accident, but will come out as soon as Amy can start riding again. Amy plans on continuing her training with Ben and wants to show him at Dodge Co. Fair this year, if she's ready. Ben is a loving, very playful horse. He is smart, most of the time, but likes to get himself into trouble quite a bit. Ben knows that when they are in the show ring he must behave himself and be calm, but once we get home from a show he runs around like a maniac, glad to be home. Amy is going to be keeping Ben probably until he dies. She really enjoy's him and says he's a great horse and is a good challenge for her to learn more about riding, bonding with him, and patience. |
