The Kwock surname people in Hawaii come from the Chungshan district in China. They are from the original four Kwock villages in China, in the Chungshan district, of Jook Sau Inn, Char Kee Lock, Kung Fa, and Pang Lum. Today, the Kwocks are spread throughout the whole of China and there are only a very small handful of Kwocks residing in the family villages to uphold the family traditions and customs.
To strengthen family bonds, it is suggested that each Chinese family maintain their family societies (associations), maintain genealogy records, and other traditional- and cultural-ties and celebrations. A family society serves as a benevolent and fraternal needs organization. It should give one a sense of one's roots, family traditions, and history.
The Kwocks in California, I was told, are related to the Kwocks in Hawaii.
