| AQIQAH - or qeqah as most Indonesian pronounce it - is the time when the family of the new born baby announce the name of the baby formally, pray to thank God Almighty for the blessings given to the family and celebrate the occassion with the whole neighbour. It is a religious event but also part of the Indonesian culture at the same time. Mine was celebrated on Sunday - 20th July 2003. |
