First Unit as 11B (Infantryman) C-Co. 1/21 Inf. (Gimlets) 2nd Warrior Brigade, 25th Inf. Division Light-Schofield Barracks, HI (was cross trained as a C2 Light Anti-Armor Weapons and Air Assault & Combat Lifesaver qualified).
Reclassed in 1998 to the Military Intelligence Field as a 96U (UAV Operator) schooled at Ft.Huachuca, Az then stationed lastly at Ft.Hood, TX within 3rd Corps, A-Co. 15th M.I. Bn (Night Hawks) from 1999 - 2001. I was a SPC. 4 promotable upon discharge but didnot receive schooling to PLDC to obtain my hard stripes as an E-5 SGT which I rightfully earned before being medical seperated.
I am married to my beautiful wife Rinda of 8yrs and I have a 5yr old daughter named Kinley Ashton and we all reside in Amarillo, Texas. I am also a Germanic Heathen meaning I practice the beliefs, religion and magical arts of my ancestors, the native peoples of northern europe. I have been a heathen for over 12 years. I currantly work for Hastings Entertainment warehouse.

The name Rawlings, was first found in Herefordshire, England where they were seated from very early times and were granted lands by Duke William of Normandy (William the Conquor) who was their liege Lord, for their distinguished assistance at the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
In England today there are Rawlings living still in Herefordshire, who still maintain property and titles. I have not researched my direct family lineage but I feel confident that I have decended from those who originated from northern France(Normandy after the Normans) to England(Anglo-Saxons) before the year 1066. My family is also composed of Irish, Dutch and German. Truely Germanic.
This is where I feel the utmost pride for my spiritual path and folkways within Germanic Heathenry. Knowing where my heritage stems from and the cultures which are part of it feels like home. I have a strong interest in learning more about my ancestral lineage and it is a prodject still in developement.
Rawlings Coat of Arms is composed of a black shield with three swords and the crest is an arm holding a dagger.
Family Motto: "Cognosce Teipsum et Disce Pati" from the Latin meaning "Know Thyself and Learn to Suffer".
My heathen name Hildolf means 'Battle-Wolf' and was taken from the Poetic Edda poem Harbardzljod which I adopted in June 1999. The surname Vanirsson came about years later to give balance to an AEsiric first name and to distinguish myself from others who may have Hildolf as a chosen name. Vanirsson is also my family name/kindred name.
An ongoing work in progress. I hope those who visit find it helpful and I welcome comments and suggestions. My
goal is to provide information and share what I have learned with others who are Heathen or who are curious about Germanic Heathenry/Asatru.

Period 5th Century to 10th century
Asgard the home of the shining Gods situated at the topmost level of the tree.
Ljossalfheim the word of the light elves lies between Asgard and Midgard.
Midgard the world of humans centered within the tree.
Swartalfheim the world of the dark elves/dwarves. Lies between Midgard and Helheim.
Helheim the abode of the dead.
These 5 Worlds make up the verticle column of the World Tree. The next 4 Worlds rest of the horizontal plain with Midgard remaining in the middle. The central world among the Worlds.
In the North is Nifleheim the primal World of stasis, cold, and ice.
To the South is Muspellheim the primal world of raging fire.
To the West is Vanaheim the home of the Vanir Gods.
Finally to the East is Jotunheim the stormy world of the Giants.
The worlds are in balance and are interconnected with one another and with the world of Midgard which is the focal point to and from, the doorway of the known to the realms of the unknown.

Aegir (P) [Hler,Gymir]-God of the Stormy Seas, Husband of Ran and father of the 9 Wave Maidens, the Ale brewer of the Gods.
Baldr (P) "The Bold", beloved son of Odhinn & Frigga. Killed by his brother Hodr the blind god through Loki's mischief. Husband to Nanna and father to Forseti. His death ushered the coming of Ragnarok. In Asgard his residence is Breidablik the purest of dwellings. Resides in Hel til after Ragnarok to rule a New World. Given the arm-ring Draupnir by Odhinn upon his funeral pyre. Owns the ship Hringhorni
Bragi (P) God of wisdom, skilled especially words of eloquence-the skaldic arts (poetry). Known to welcome/greet fallen warriors arriving at Valhalla. Husband of Idunna.
Disir/Idises (NP) Female Ancestral Guardian Spirits "Grandmothers". Honored in winter with a disablot. Akin to the Matrons of Indo-European origin "Mother-Goddesses" whom votive stones and altars were setup and dedicated to within the 1st to 5th century A.D.. Disting is the month in which the Disir are honored.
Eir (NP) "the Helper",Goddess of healing and medicine.
Eostra/Ostara (P) A west Germanic Goddess of spring and fertility, prosperity and growth. The month of April is named for her.
Erda (NP) Name of Earth, primal Earth Goddess/Mother Goddess
Forseti (P) "the Presiding One", God of truth, justice, peace & law. Carries an axe. Son of Baldr and Nanna.
Freyr (P) "Lord", Vanir god twin brother of Freyja and son of Njord. Rules Alfheim. Husband of Gerd, God of prosperity, peace, plenty and harvest (abundance), sexuality, sunshine and rain. Owns a magic sword which fights on its own, the ship Skidbladnir which always catches a fair wind to travel over land and sea and which can be folded up and placed in ones pocket, the golden boar Gullenbursti which shines bright in the darkest night and swifter than any horse on land, air or water. Skirnir is his servent who he sends to woo Gerd sending him with his magic sword which will leave him without a blade to fight Beli at Ragnarok. Instead he will fight Beli with a stags antler and die honorably.
Freyja (P) "Lady", Vanir goddess twin sister of Freyr, and daughter of Njord. Goddess of Love, sexuality, death/battle. Fond of love songs. Resides in Folkvangr, her hall is Sessrumner. She leads Odhinns battle-maidens, the Valkyries and receives half the battle-slain. Owns a falcon cloak, the boar Hildisvini (battle-swine), and the famed Brisingamen necklace. Married to Od and Gersemi & Hnossi are her daughters. Her wagon is pulled by cats.
Frigga (P) "Beloved", wife of Odhinn, daughter of Fjorgynn. Resides in Asgard in Fensalir. Her attendants are Fulla and Gna. Queen of Heaven, very wise like her husband but talks very little of what she knows. Mother of Baldr & Hodr. Goddess of women, marrage, childbirth/children, love, and the home. Her symbols are the spindle and distaff denoting the function of weaving which many women perfomed and to which was an important skill in early times.
Gefn (P) "the Giver", goddess of plenty & protection. A byname of Freyja.
Gefjon (P) "the Giving One" a fertility & protective goddess.
Gerd (NP) "Enclosure/fenced in yard", wife of Freyr and daughter of the jotun Gymir and Aurboda.
Gersemi (NP) "Precious", daughter of Freyja.
Heimdall (P) "the Illuminated One", the son of the 9 Wave-Maidens, Guardian/watcher of Asgard and the Bifrost Bridge. Accute hearing and sight and has golden teeth. His dwelling is Himinbjorg "sky mountains" situated next to Bifrost bridge, his horse is Gulltopr "gold-top. As Rig he is the progenator of the social classes of civilization, the culture bringer. Owns the "resounding horn", Gjallarhorn which he blows to signal the dawning of Ragnarok.
Hela (P) Goddess of the Underworld/Realm of the Dead. Daughter of Loki and Angrboda, sister of the Midgardsormr (World Serpent) and the Fenris Wolf. She is described as being half white and half black, morbid and fierce looking.
Hermodr (P) Son of Odhinn and brother of Baldr & Hodr. Messanger of the Gods. Also, greets the arrival of the battle-fallen warriors to Valhalla.
Hler (NP) God of Primal waters, the sea. Another name for AEgir. The Danish island of Hleysey now called Laesso is named after him.
Hlin (NP) "Protectress", another name for Frigga.
Hnossi (NP) "Precioius", daughter of Freyja.
Hodr (NP) "Warrior, fighter"the Blind God. Son of Odhinn and Frigga and brother of Baldr &Hermodr. Accidently kills his brother Baldr through Loki's mischief with a dart of mistletoe. This incident symbolizes what is called blind fate which sets in motion the coming of Ragnarok.
Hoenir (NP) God of taciturnity and of cult celebration.--de Vries. Known also to have helped in the creation of human kind along with Odhinn and Lodurr.
Idunn (P) "the Rejuvinating One" a fertility goddess. The apple is her symbol and with her apples she keeps the Gods from aging and dying. Wife of Bragi.
Ing (P) anothe name for Freyr. same as Ingvi.
Kari (NP) "Wind, gust, squall" Primal Air goddess?
Kvasir (NP) Being created from the spittle of the AEsir and Vanir after their long enduring war as a peace settlement uniting the two clans of gods. Kvasir was the wisest of all beings before he was killed by two dwarfs, Fjalarr and Galarr who mixed his blood with honey creating the mead of inspiration which was contained in the vessels Odhroerir, Son, and Bodn.
Lofn (NP) "the Comferter, the Mild" Goddess who brings together men and women whos marrage had been declaired forbidden. Permission is derrived from her name.
Logi (NP) "Flame, Fire, Wildfire" Primordial fire giant and one of the three sons of Fornjotr.
Loki (P) Son of the giants Farbauti and Laufey or Nal, brother to Helblindi and Byleist. The father of Hela, Jormungandr-the Midgard Serpent, the Fenris-Wolf, by the Giantess Angrboda. With the Giant Master builder's horse Svadilfari produced Odhinn's eight-legged steed Sleipnir "Slipper, Sliding One". With his wife Sigyn "Victorious Girl-Friend?",Narfi and Vali. He is cunning and a trickster. Getting the Gods into trouble only to get then out of trouble. He is Odhinn's blood-brother and shadow. After the killing of Baldr, he is bound to three big rocks with the guts of his son Vali or Ali by his brother Narfi or Nari who was changed into a wolf and a venomous snake hanging above his face dripping venom. Here he will be til the start of Ragnarok when his chains burst giving him freedom once more.
Magni (NP) "the Strong One, Mighty" Son of Thorr and Jarnsaxa, brother of Modi and Thrud and stepbrother to Ullr. He and Modi are the heirs to Thorr's hammer Mjollnir "Crusher" at the end of Ragnarok.
Mani (P) The Moon God. Son of Mundilfari "the one moving according to paticular times" the keeper of time and brother to Sol/Sunna the sun goddess. The moon is accompanied by two earth children Bil and Hjuka. Mani marks time by waxing and waning of the moon. As he travels through the sky he is persued by a large wolf named Hati Hrodvitnisson who is determined to catch him and at Ragnarok he succeeds in doing so. Monday is his day.
Matrons (P) Mother Goddesses to whom votive stones and altars were set up between the 1st and 5th centuries A.D..
Modi (NP) "the Angry One", Son of Thorr and Jarnsaxa, brother of Magni, Thrud and stepbrother of Ullr. He and Magni are the heirs to Thorr's hammer Mjollnir at the end of Ragnarok.
Mimir (NP) "Memory, Primal knowledge and wisdom, the unconscious" Friend of Odhinn, keeper of the Well which bears his name. Very wise in knowledge and consel.
Nanna (NP) "the Daring One", Wife of Baldr and mother of Forset. Died of grief at her husbands funeral pyre and joins him in the underworld where they wait til the passing of Ragnarok to issue forth a new era and remenis of days of old.
Nehalennia (NP) "the helpful goddess coming close" Ancient mother goddess, of seafaring, vegetation and death. Known from votive alars dating back to the 3rd century.
Nerthus (NP) "Terra-mater" Earth mother who was recorded by Tacitus in the 1st Century being worshipped on an island in the Baltic. A peacefull goddess who traveled by wagon through the country side blessing the peopl and the land and receiving offerings from the devoted. Possibly the feminine form of Njord and also Njords sister and wife and mother of Freyr and Freyja.
Njord (P) Vanir god of Seafaring, Wealth, Fire,Wind, the Sea. Father of Freyr and Freyja. One time husband to Skadhi. Possibly his name is the masculine form of Nerthus thus being her brother and husband which would indicate that they may also be one in the same a hermaphrodite diety among the cultures which settled on the Baltic and lands south. Njord came to the AEsir as a hostage, an exchange between the Vanir and the AEsir after the wars in which to keep the peace and unifiy the divine clans. Njord's residence is called Noatun "Shipyard" and he carries a double-headed battle-axe. After Ragnarok he will return to Vanaheim.
Norns (P) Three women of fate who reside in a hall at the base of the World-Tree who are Urdhr (Past), Verdandi (Present), and Skuld (That shall be/Future) they determine the desteny of men they also tend the Well of Urdhr and daily spinkle the World-Tree with life protecting mud from the well to prevent rot and decay. There are also good norns from good families who grant good lives to men and there are malevolant norns who grant misfortune. It is said that when a child is born the norns from within the family come to determine the life-path of the child. Fortune/Misfortune
Odhinn (P) The Father of the Gods, God of War/Battle, Poetry/Eloquence, Wisdom/Knowledge, Cargoes, the Dead/Battle-Slain, The Wild Hunt, Magic, Runes, and Ecstacy. Son of the primal beings Bor and Bestla, and brother to Vili/ Hoenir and Ve/ Lodurr who with them slew the primal giant Ymir and from his body created Midgard (Earth) the world of Humans and created humans. Known by over 150 names which describe his attributes. Odhinn has two ravens (Huginn and Munin/Thought and Memory) that fly about the Earth and reporting what they see. He has two wolves(Geri and Freki), the eight-legged steed Sleipnir, the Golden arm-ring Draupnir, the spear Gungnir. His wife is Frigga and has many lovers including Jord the mother of Thorr, Rinda the mother of Vali, Grid mother of Vidarr and the Giantess Gunnlod. His children include Baldr, Hod, Vidarr, Vali, and Thorr. Throught his self sacrifice of the World-Tree he gained the mysteries and wisdom of the Runes. By sacrificing one of his eyes at the Well of Mimir, he was able to increase his worldly knowledge by drinking a hornful of its waters. His halls in Asgard are Valaskjalf which contains his High-seat Hlidskjalf to which he watches all the worlds and Valhol/Valhalla the hall of the Einherjar(Battle-slain) reside drinking and feasting in preparation of the final battle of Ragnarok. Proginator of many royal dynasties in the North. Wednesday is his day and his symbols are the Valknutr (Knot of the Slain) and the Horned Treskele. When he wanders the worlds he wears a wide brimmed hat and a dark blue cloak. He is the inciter of battle-madness. The god which encompasses ALL.
Phol (NP) equivallant to Baldr?
Ran (P) "Robber" Goddess of the Sea, wife of AEgir and mother of the 9 Wave-Maidens. Ruler of the Realm of the Dead which lies on the bottom of the Sea. She carries a net to capture drown victems and take them to her dwelling.
Rig (NP) Name of Heimdall as proginator of the social classes and culture bringer.
Rinda (NP) Seduced by Odhinn to bear a son, Vali the Avenger born to slay Hodr for having slain Baldr. Vali survives Ragnarok to rule the new world with his brothers Baldr, Hodr, & Vidarr.
Sif (P) "Relation", Wife of Thorr, mother of Ullr. A goddess of harvest with her golden hair symbolizing the ripe fields of grain or possibly corn.
Skadhi (P) "Shadow", Daughter of the slain giant Thjazi, one time wife to Njord. She is a goddess of winter, the hunt and skies. Her dwelling is Thrymheim which is located in Jotunheim. She is either wife to Ullr or possibly his sister? When Loki is bound she places the venomous snake above his face.
Skuld (P) "Debt, Future", Youngest of the three Norns who determines what shall be. Also a Valkyrie who rides to gather the battle-slain. Sister to Urd who represents the past and Verdandi who sees to the present or being.
Snotra (P) "Clever and Well behaved", goddess of women's gentile wisdom.
Sol/Sunna (P) The sun. Daughter of Mundilfari and sister of Mani (the Moon). Is chased by the wolf Skoll who will catch her and devour her at Ragnarok but before she dies she will have a daughter who will shine on a new earth after Ragnarok. Sunday is her day.
Sjofn (NP) A goddess of love, relationships and marrage.
Syn (NP) "Refusal, Denial", guardian of the doorways, a protective goddess.
Tiwaz/Tiw (P) Anglo-saxon god of war, assembly, and ancient sky-father=Tyr
Thorr (P) The god of Thunder & Lightning, gentle rain, of farmers, agriculture and craftmanship. Son of Odhinn and the giantess Jord (Earth), husband of Sif and father of Magni, Modi,begotten with the giantess Jarnsaxa and his daughter Thrud, and stepfather to Ullr. Has the largest hall in Asgard which is called Bilskirnir which contains 450 rooms located in the realm of Thrudvangar. He is the defender & champion of the realms of Asgard and Midgard. He has an enormous appatite and thurst which is unmached by any being as well as emense strength, might and main. He possese the magical Hammer Mjollnir "Crusher", a belt of strength which doubles his asa-strength and a pair of iron gauntlets which is used to grip the mighty weapon which is considerd best of ALL and bane of frost & rock giants and trolls. He is described as being a giant of a man with flashing eyes and a red beard, resourceful and what he dosn't have in wisdom he makes up with brute force/power & might. He is not only the sworn enemy of giants and trolls but also of the spawn of Loki the Midgardsomr-Iormungandr the world-serpent, Who he will defeat at Ragnarok and parash himself by its toxic venom after taking 9-steps. His strength, power and might are inheirated by his children as well as his mighty Hammer who will be left to his sons Magni and Modi after Ragnarok to defend and champion a new Asgard & Midgard.
