| Scratchbuilt Buffers | ||||||||||||||||||
| While LGB sells buffers as spare parts, they come without the housing, so buying them when scratchbuilding a car is only half a solution. So, I tried to find some components to build simple buffers myself. The local building supply store had everything I needed. |

| Here you see a completed buffer, plus all of it's components. Basically, it is a plastic thing meant to support a shelf, a nail with a large flat head, and a piece of polystyrene. All I did was remove the nail from the shelfsupport, drill out the hole so it would take the large nail, round tho corners of the buffer plate, and bevel the edges a bit, and glue everything together. The large nail sticks out a bit in the back, that only means I have to drill a hole when I want to attach it, it only makes the connection stronger. |

| Comparison between a LGB buffer and a scratchbuilt one. While there are differences, The will not be apparent when the parts have been painted black. Total costs per buffer: a few cents. |
