It has been quite a few years since DAS, the makers of the self-hardening DAS-Pronto modelling clay sold this kind of figure moulds as an accessory. The one you see here is a male skier, there also is a female one, a soccer player, and various others.

It must be fifteen years ago that my son found the first three moulds on a flee market, later I managed to find several among old stock in a store. Since they were meant for kids the modelling is within everybody's reach: just put clay in one half of the mould, shut it and squeeze. Take the figure out of the mold, if it's not correct, try again!

Here is a selection of the first batch of figures I made. The DAS clay is an easy medium to work with, and as you can see I managed to change the positions of the figures as well so they don't all look the same. The fellow on the left had his snow goggles surgically removed after the clay hardened, that's also the right time to cut away the flash with a sharp hobby knife. For paint I used regular enamel, I figured that would protect them best, the bases are cut out of sheet of thin clear acrylic, at least till they get a permanent place. I managed to find two sheep moulds as well, so if I finally finish my cattle truck I can make the cargo for it myself. The size corresponds well with 1:22.5 / 1:25. Obviously, they are not as good as shop bought figures, but they will definetely do the job in a group, for instance on a platform, or as passengers. I hope to make a lot more of them.
