Who Is Gunfighter?

June 1992 - Present Georgia Pacific Corp.

I retired from the US Army in June of 1992. I was hired by the Georgia Pacific Corp. in Olympia, WA as a laborer. This is a union shop so in 1996 I was awarded a shipping bid and now I drive a forklift. I take care of several production machines. Nothing real exciting, but it does pay the bills. I might also add that I have been on the graveyard shift since 1996. Most people consider this as not having much of a life so I try to make the best of the situation. I get home from work at about 0800 and go to my friends ranch. Most of the time we handle cattle, hay or do normal ranch work. Doing hay also requires some farming skills.

March 1989 - June 1992
Headquarters and Headquarters Company
3rd Battalion, 227th Aviation Regiment
Platoon Sergeant

We were part of the Apache Training Brigade that was formed to prepare units for deployment to Germany. The 227th was sent to Hanau as a normal rotation at Fligerhorst Kasern. Served in the Middle East during Operations Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm by managing a 54 person platoon that fueled and armed all aviation and ground assets in a Apache Attack Helicopter Battalion. Successfully moved these people and 20 vehicles with trailers in excess of 2500 miles into multiple locations through friendly and hostile territory. The 3/227th Aviation Regiment participated in 3 major battles and 1 deep attack. During the deep attack we pushed a little over 400 KM into the Euphrates River Valley to attack Republican Guard tanks and armor. Our battalion has been credited with going deeper into Iraqi territory than any other unit during the war. The Jump FARP's that my LT and I led were constantly surrounded by the enemy.

I also invented the "Fly Through FARP". Forward Area Refueling Point. This cut the time spent in the FARP's by half thereby allowing our aircraft to continue with their mission sooner.
