Beside a massive chasm, Gene Starwind stood in the cockpit of Phantom Gundam. At the beginning of the Battle Royal, the had been paired with Izzy, and they had been traveling tirelessly until a few days ago. A massive snowstorm had come up, rendering their sensors useless and forcing them to travel blind. A few hours earlier, they came to a huge canyon that stretched as far as the eye could see. They hiked along it for an hour, but there was still no end in sight. The chasm had gradually widened, and now Gene couldn't even see accross it.
Suddenly he heard a massive explostion behind him and turned around just in time to see Gundam Gengaozo blown over the side of the cliff by a huge blast. Gene lept over to him, but it was too late. The ground shook as Gengaozo erupted into a ball of flame after crashing into the canyon floor, reducing Izzy to no more than a char on the ground.
Gene spun around to find Mission-X standing only yards away, Angel Cannon in hand. He began to shake with rage. He felt a massive power building inside him. Suddenly an uncontrollable torrent of energy burst forth from him, activating his super mode, causing Phantom Gundam to emit an eerie green glow. He let out a roar as he charged at Mission-X, beam saber in hand, only to be sent flying back by a barrage of ghost missiles.
As he got up, Gene saw Panther Gundam descending through the clouds, carried by a pair of massive black wings. He picked up his beam saber off the ground and said, "Heh, I guess it's time for me to even the odds." Before his oppponents could react, Gene hurled the beam saber at Saladin's Angel Cannon, slicing it in two and destroying Mission-X's right side in the resulting explosion.
Duo lit his Twin Beam Scythe and said, "Well Gene, it looks like it's just you and me now."
Gene laughed and said, "Not for long Duo, not for long." He launched off all of his shadow missiles, covering the battlefield in smoke. He heard the explosions of the ghost missiles around him as Duo tried in vain to find him. Suddenly he collapsed to the ground as one missile found it's target in Phantom Gundam's knee.
As the smoke cleared, Gene saw Panther Gundam high in the air above the chasm.
"Well Gene," Duo asked, "any last words?"
"Yeah Duo," said Gene, "I have two that I've been dying to say since we first met: Good-bye." He flipped on his Ultrasonic Wave Emitter and watched Panther Gundam shake in mid-air. Suddenly Duo's Black Hole Wings stopped beating and Panther Gundam dropped out of the sky. As it hit the ground, the massive shockwave from its explostion started avalanches all the way through the chasm, creating natural ramps down to the canyon floor on both sides.
Gene lifted himself off the ground and said, "Now that's killing two birds with one stone." He flipped off the UWE and limped down the slope, leaving only the char marks on the ground to tell the tale.
