Morgoth (Sazabi) versus Saladin (Mission X) – Sneak Attack at Barren Desert

Dust clouds enveloped the sky, covering it in a sandy haze. Yet the sun still beat down mercilessly, and everywhere you looked, desert stretched seemingly forever. A lizard crawled out from under a rock, hoping to find some food to satisfy it raging hunger. No sooner than it had moved was it suddenly gone. A smoking crater in the ground marked where it had once been. The origin of the blast came from over the dunes where a furious battle was in progress...a battle to the death…

With blinding speed, Mission X’s fist lashed out and was blocked by the deft sweep of the Sazabi’s forearm. A kick then followed which was evaded and the deadly sound of beam saber against beam saber ensued. Morgoth laughed and broke off the assault, drawing his assault rifle and peppering Saladin with APR. “Dance fool!!” he shouted in delight, running to the left while his weapon chattered with spent shells. Mission X covered it’s delicate forehead camera, allowing a stream of rounds to hit his torso and skirt armour. Saladin grimaced and decided to clear a path using some recently acquired ‘firepower’. Who knew that Morgoth could be so deadly when provoked? He selected the twin buster rifle on his menu screen and allowed himself a small smile as the Sazabi turned and began to flee across the sand. Yet it was his turn to look in horror as the Sazabi rocketed into the air and came down to the ground in a graceful display of acrobatics, wielding its Evil Angel Cannon in a menacing display of force. The Mission X hesitated and then boosted forward, firing off massive gold blasts from both rifles at the Sazabi. Morgoth didn’t expect such a suicidal head on attack and the Sazabi was struck a glancing blow on the arm that completely decimated it. If he had not had his double Gundanium armour, then his entire suit might have been destroyed. Furious, Morgoth dashed in a zigzag motion at the oncoming Mission X, firing his own Angel Cannon at the suit and crowing in delight when a shot slammed straight into the leg of the Mission X, disintegrating it into nothingness. As a result, the Mission X stumbled and fell headlong onto the ground, sending up a huge cloud of dust mingled with fire, metal and fuel. With a confident air, the Sazabi began to stride towards the fallen Mission X which was desperately trying to right itself. “Stand Gundam!!!” yelled Saladin, echoing the words of a long dead newtype. Morgoth heard the words stream across his comlink and knew that it was all over for Mission X. Like a deathly mirage he kept approaching, the sunlight glinting off the Sazabi’s red armour, seeming like it was covered in blood…

In a final act of despair, Saladin loaded his thunderstrike and shadow missiles and waited for the right moment. Timing was crucial and could make the difference between life and death. 700m….600m…500m... counted Saladin in his mind and when the Sazabi had reached 300m, the Mission X opened the flaps on it’s missile containers and launched it’s shadow missiles. Confused at the spreading black smoke, Morgoth stopped and this gave Mission X the right opportunity for counterattack. With all the strength remaining in his MS, it rose off the ground into the sky and fired ever single thunderstrike missile at the Sazabi. The missiles white plumes streaked down to the desert floor while the Mission X leapt backwards on it’s crippled leg, hoping to gain some distance between him and Morgoth. A sense of foreboding hit Morgoth and he thrustered away just in time from the first missile which splashed down on his previous location, turning it into a kilometre wide crater. His computer lit up with missile warnings and his eyes went wide at the number of missiles coming for him. But he was far from beaten and dodged the first few, leading them on a chase around the dunes although never losing sight of the escaping Mission X. He skidded and stood his ground against the rest of the missiles; a whole 100 kilotons of warhead material ready to extinguish his life at a moment’s notice. He sidestepped one missile, letting it explode harmlessly and began shooting them out of the sky with his vulcans and assault rifle. Three narrowly missed hitting him due to a graceful cartwheel and the rest dropped to the ground in flames, like shooting stars. In all this time he had not lost sight of Saladin who was very far away now, making clear for the
Homura Strait. Morgoth took out his Angel Cannon and took aim…the distance was well over 12 miles, impossible for a human – not for an SS member…and sighting, he let off a slender arcing shot that speared the Mission X’s other leg, causing it to smash to the ground a mere two miles away from the Strait. Saladin cursed his luck– how could anyone make such a shot? All hope of fleeing had left him and now he awaited judgement by the Sazabi, who was racing to him with his twin beam trident blazing…maybe he would spare him, maybe if he could convince…

The Mission X detonated in a massive explosion from the Sazabi ramming it’s twin beam trident through it’s generator. Watching the remains of his enemy burn, he wondered if this was really the life for him…he then looked at the glowing twin beam trident in his hand…and he knew that fighting was all he knew…what was his purpose if he could not fight? He pondered these deep questions as he flew away from the barren desert and then contemplated the though of a sword battle with Victor and Ky and a nice cold beer when he returned home…
