Amuro is the main character of the series. In the beginning, he is a civilian living at the Side 7 colony. His father is a Federation engineer. When the colony is attacked by the Zeon, Amuro hops into the newly built Gundam and manages to defeat them. He and other civilians become part of the White Base crew. As the series progresses, Amuro's newtype abilites appear and he starts to become a great pilot. He meets Zeon ace pilot Char Aznable many times in battle and the two soon become rivals.
