January 2007

01.30.07, Tuesday:

[09:23pm] *yawn* The past two mornings, I've been waking up, and my first thoughts would be: "Wha...? That's IT? The night is already over???" Heh heh. It seems night is passing by faster than usual. In my own little world, anyways. =)

One of my co-worker's wife was just diagnosed with MS. And another teacher miiiiiiiiiiight have it too, because it's in her family, and she's had some strange symptoms in the past year...so she's going to get her results soon. Another ex-coworker's wife has it, and a current co-worker right now has had it for a while, and actually, she's dealing with it really well. And here I am, worried about my crazy, involuntary cranial nerve VII twitch...which for a while, I was paranoid that it might be MS because of all the MS-talk I've been hearing lately. I've had no other symptoms at all, and the twitch itself seems to be unrelated to it, so it shouldn't be it...but I should still get to the doctor's again and ask them about an MRI or something. Hey, a twitch for alllmost 2 years? Yeah, tell me about it. =P

The Chris Tomlin "How Great Is Our God" Concert was...WOW...! It totally floored me - the music and shiny lights were great, jumping up and down with Shelton, Amy, and Sharon was awesome, seeing Matt Redman (I had no idea how short he was, hee hee. And he has a wonderful British accent - and you all know how I love British accents, hee hee!) and having him sing too...and Louie Giglio's oh-so-wonderfully-scientifically-nerdy message was fantastic! I'm not a concert person, so I was so very happy that it came with a bunch of worship songs that I could sing to, and a message about God too. ^_^ All that plus an Iron Chef competition with ramen noodles before going to the concert ($5 at Albertson's and everything you had at home) made it all the more better. ^_^ Grr. We were having so much fun, there are no pictures at all, ha ha...stir-fried ramen versus soup ramen with chicken katsu on top...you'll just have to imagine it. ^_^

Sigh. How Great is Our God! From the ends of the universe to tiny, microscopic proteins that hold our entire body together...in the words of Louie Giglio (or close to it anyways) "And here God is, waiting an eternity for us to build a telescope big enough to see this, 23 million light years away."

The Whirlpool Galaxy

"X" across the nucleus of M51 indicating two dust rings around the black hole at the center of the galaxy.

"...and here is God, waiting an eternity for us to build a microscope powerful enough to see these tiny proteins that holds our entire body together."

LAMININ!!! ^_^

To just remember how tiny we are in this universe...how small we are...and yet how precious we are to Him who created the universe and galaxies with just His word, and how we are a miracle in just being a living, breathing, thinking being with thoughts and emotions, with DNA that somehow connects together so perfectly to make us who we are - we're a miracle at every moment, and we are precious to Him. Yes, I love my Jesus! ^_^

[06:15am] What says "I love you"...

...more than All-You-Can-Eat Sushi? ^_^

25 points bonus! Hee hee hee! ^_^

As for today, this morning's devotional came from 1 Thessalonians 2: 1-4...

Paul says that what they did, it was not in vain. For though they had been suffering from their previous missions in Philippi, it was worth it to keep going on and to see the fruits of their labor from their second missions in Thessalonica.

In all this, he was approved by God. What a seal of approval! If we do things, approved by God, it shows that it won't come easy. There will be sufferings and hardships along the way. But the fruits will prove the worth of the labor. It's not material gains here that Paul has been working for, but spiritual gains. He was able to be used by God to gain LIVES over to Christ. A life is worth more than any money could buy - people drop millions into their health, to buy medicine or fads that will help them be stronger, better, healthier, live longer...and all that means nothing if the life cannot be saved.

It's not about the money. It's not about how much you have. Your life is PRICELESS, and it's precious - to God and to Satan, as they both want it. Neither cares about how much money one has, how shiny their cars or houses or clothes are, but they want what is priceless, and Satan is willing to do whatever it takes to lure us over.

But in saving lives and souls, in being used by God to do that...there is no other work here on earth that is more important, more meaningful. And though it's not easy - Satan's going to throw everything at us - the fruits of our labor will show us just how important our need to be examples of Him and to be fishers of men is.

Amen, brutha'.

[06:22am] Uh-oh. My gummychild.com here might be expiring at the end of this month...! I've been only having to pay $5/year for the server and address, hee hee hee...some sorta professional preview package that lasted for the past 3 years...but I've been getting emails that it's ending, and of course, the price goes up if I want to keep it. =T

I might just be using Xanga and Facebook after January...=( (Not that I don't like them. I do. But it's not the same...)

01.22.07, Monday:

[08:17pm] I've been sparse in my blogging lately, as all the time seems preoccupied with either work, church, wedding, or playtime with friends, ha ha ha...=)

Basically, the big thing of last week of work was the FPD Lab (aka Ice Cream Lab), ha ha, and moving textbook adoption sets left and right, which eventually ended up leaving me with shoulders sore with pain and a hiiiint of back pain that made me stop lifting as many buckets, crates, boxes and books as I usually did. However, I did have a great deal of help after school cleaning up the classroom from some awesome students who rather enjoyed cleaning and scrubbing the tables and coolers with me, storing away the materials and moving about 5 loads of stuff to my car for me to clean over the weekend. =)

What WAS funny was that the day of the lab, the custodians took our lab fridge away, of which we had stocked with ice for the lab. Imagine coming home and having your fridge completely gone! All that was left was a small handful of ice, but at least we got lots of extra ice on that day. =) And to think that the order we put in for that fridge to be moved was...last year...and the one day that it's used...=P

We had Wonderful Persons (that is my AKA for...well, I won't say) show up for our department meeting. She said it'd take 15 minutes. It was 1.5 hours. Yes, roll your eyes. =P

I got to hang out with Giang and eat a yummy yummy Honey Dijon Chicken Focaccia Sandwich. Sooooooooooo mouthwatering!!! =) And warm chicken noodle soup. How good is that??? =)

Kenshin is now finished. Sigh. I loved it. It's much better than Inuyasha. =) I wish it would go on forever. It was so good, I'm even tempted to read the manga. =) Or, I can spend my time learning a new language. After all, there is much Klingon to learn. ^_^

On Saturday, we had a gumi of people over - Martha's, my Aunt's, Selina's. Party-party-party with food, lots of chatting, and for Josephine, Cecilia, Shelton and I...TVB! =) The Brink of Law is the new show I'm watching. =)

Fish & Horseshoes is going super well! =) Praise the Lord - and I was all worried, p'shaw. Shows that there's nothing to worry with God helping me out, eh? =)

Afterwards, it was a whole day trip to take care of wedding stuff with my mom at stops in Temple City and Victoria Gardens. And today? Heroes is starting again! *gasp* What's gonna happen since last time??? I anxiously await 9pm. =)

Tomorrow is a District Assessment Meeting, one of 6 in the next few weeks to come. Hear my joy. Whee.

01.15.07, Monday:

[09:33am] "I have a dream...!" ^_^

But isn't it ironic?

How our remembrance seems so...laconic...?

...

Today is a holiday!

A free day for a fray! =)

Lunch and a movie...a plan so groovy!

Last Friday at work

School was quite a cirque

When in Riverside it snowed

And all geared into happy mode!

Ferrero Rocher and Tea

With the Mangs we shared in glee

Conversation and prayer

'Twas a great affair!

No Pho 79

But we did not whine

For with my Uncle and Aunt

Chiu Chou Kwey Tieu left nothing to want!

Fish and Horseshoes

We chose our hues

Unite, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

Christ is no stranger!

Adventures in Rowland Heights

Three grocery sites

And more

Left me in want...for a snore.

Kenshin is ending

I wish it were unending

Every day I'd watch it

To that, I could commit!

And sitting on my desk

A bottle so statuesque

Chewable vitamins and minerals

They add to his credentials! ^_^

01.09.07, Tuesday:

[07:23pm] Department-headship means more meetings, ha ha ha...and I do have to say that I despise these district meetings. Little gets done in the 2 hours we get to hang out together. Instead, just give us the agenda, and if we're all doing constructive talking, we really could get it done in 1 hour. It's funny too, as we meet as high school and middle school science teachers, and the middle school teachers could sit, work together, and get it all done fast. It's all about collaboration in middle school, heh heh. The high school teachers, though well-intentioned, could argue over dates to meet and what to do for about an hour before getting to work, as they work more independently but fail to see the need (and more efficient it is) to get to the point and get things done as a whole. Hey, they admitted to this yesterday. =)

Saturday - Wedding Prep. Day: PaperWonders in Temple City...Tasty Garden afterwards, plus a Derrick, after some stalking at his house, ha ha! (Mmmmmochi at Tasty Garden is...wow...! <3) ^_^...and Victoria Gardens for more prepwork. =)

Sunday - First F&H meeting! Went well-ish...I'm concerned...there won't be regular attendance, and that makes it really difficult for a program of any sort to be established...even during Service time, helper-youths won't be there regularly because of the Children's Service. So now, I'm trying to figure out what to do...and if it's just regular weekly meetings, but not a program, it won't meet the goals of helping them build that consistent, solid foundation...help? >_<

Another three day weekend's coming up! Yay! ^_^

And...be ready...House of Joy...February 24th...be ready! =) No theme set yet - TBA. Just know that's the date. And be ready to cook, play, and eat. ^_^ Aw, too bad Heidi's so far away now. =P

01.04.07, Thursday:

[06:18pm] Oh my goodness...It's 2007!!! ^_^

It's been such a long and busy week, filled with the best kind of busy one could possibly imagine. I'm back to work now, but the week is going by smoothly too. Woo hoo! =)

Here's my little lion-dog from Soyodo, ha ha ha...^_^ I took him for a walk on the street, and people were staring in amazement at him, ha ha ha...!

Tuesday was the Urbana Send-Off party, where half of the Urbana team, Melody and Calvin (Yay! Haven't seen him in a year!) came over to party with the rest of us for food and fellowship, and Scattergories! ^_^ On Wednesday, I had the privilege of hanging out with Jenn, Yvonne, Takako and Ros for dinner at Mimi's Cafe (I still LOVE their carrot bread!). =)

The weekend was spent in Vegas with dear friends. ^_^ Shelton, Ros and I had Kabob Palace (Mmm! Basmati Rice!) for dinner when we got there Friday, followed by praise night at LWCC, where we got to see more dear friends, such as Kurt, Leighton, Tommy, Joanne, Jenn, Michelle, Becky, Pastor James, and Chris Lee, as well as Chris Hui! ^_^ On Saturday, we dim summed at Orchid Garden with Auntie, Kevin, Khoi-Ahn, Derrick, Simon, and Uncle John and Carol, and ran into part of the LWCC group again, hee hee. It's the best dim sum place around, I reckon. =)

After that, the rest went shopping while Ros and I turned in our tickets for the Star Trek Experience at the Hilton. OH MY GOODNESS! This is like, the best thing ever, ha ha ha! I loved it! Nerdy goodness!!! =) I met a Pherengi, and saw the Enterprise...and the Klingon Encounter and Borg Invasion rides were way too much fun, heh heh. I felt like I really was on the spaceship - the setting was great, and the actors did well - we got to go on the bridge, and even ride the elevator like on TV, muah ha. ^_^ There are tons of pictures. They're located on facebook (oh yeah, I cancelled my myspace account!). =) I like it - I can upload unlimited amounts of picturres on this, and it's fun, fun, fun! =)

That night, we hit up Sushimon, with Tiffany and Mike too (who has hooked me on wanting a DS Lite, ha ha!), and filled our bellies till they were more than happy, ha ha ha...We got toro from their "secret menu", and though there was no more lychee ice cream, the red bean ice cream was, I think, even better...! I've found another roll to love - the Vegas Roll! It's a fried roll, with all sorts of good stuff inside. Really, no pictures. We were busy eating and ordering. =)

Oh, but that's not the end of the story. On Sunday morning, we had breakfast at Hash House A Go Go!!! Their portions are monstrous, but tasty. I would go again! After church (and kidnapping a Kurt and touching rim on the bball "court"), we met up with the rest of the gang at Original Pancake House, which was very, very tempting, only my stomach would have burst with anything else after Hash House, ha ha...but I did get to play with some whipped cream and make a duck...=)

All we did was eat, because after hanging out at K.KA's, we had dinner at Kan's with Shelton's parents. =) We didn't get to go to the park to watch the fireworks, so we watched them on TV and from upstairs. It was disappointing...only 5 minutes long? I thought it was much more impressive last time, ha ha ha...but it was still fun to play with friends for the weekend. =)

We got back on Monday with a short amount of time rest before the Wismers came over for afternoon tea. ^_^ My mom made the famed mango mousse cake, and we all got to hang out and catch up, as we hadn't seen each other in a bit. =) They're great. So is J. Chou, whom we just talked and talked and talked with, heh heh. =)

Oh, and look! My fishies in their XTank...they love to eat too...and wiggle about...^_^
