| STAMPEDE (Activision) | |||||||||||||||||||||
| Score: 7.5 High Score (so far): n/a I have nearly 100 Atari games. I would say that at least half are about space, take place in space, and/or have "space" in the title. So where the hell did this game come from? I can't think of a concept that is LESS 80's. And that's why I like it. |

| I reckon this game was made as a joke or the final flip-off of a fired Activision employee. I mean think about it. There are no aliens. No one dies. There are no anti-communist undertones. There are no robots. Just a feller and his rope, rustlin cattle. Watch out fer them bulls and skulls. Listen to the lulabye of thundering hooves. That's it, folks. |

| There are only a few things about the gameplay that bug me. First, even at my best the game only lasts for a few minutes. The game gets very hard very quick. The second thing is that when you are letting your lasso fly like this (left), the rope retracts if you let go of the button. It was a good thought by the programmers, but the reality is that it is more annoying than helpful. | |||||||||||||||||||||
| This game is genius like Joust is genius. I am a sucker for an original concept. Although it is no Joust, the game is fun. And for that reason I see no purpose in making some dumb ass cowboy jokes. So if you can't make it out to old Montan' you might just pop in this beautiful brown cart and let yer mind just slip away. That or watch an Old El Paso commercial. Either way. |
