My Slow Descent Into Loserhood - My Atari Games
SEAQUEST (Activision)
Rating: 9.0
High Score (so far): somewhere around 700 K

Hey you -- go turn on "Beyond the Sea" by Bobby Darin.  Do it now,  or at least just hum the song "Calypso" by John Denver.
What beter typifies the 80's than hatred of sharks and Russians?  Nothing, I say!  What a perilous time to be a scuba diver.  The term "shark infested water" meant nothing to me until I played this game.  Likewise, "no-good commie scum bag Ruskie" meant nothing to me until one of their nuclear subs blew me up.

In this game you are a submarine who must rescue wayward divers from the clutches of sharks and torpedo-shooting submarines.
Again, I never read manuals so I only assume they are Russian subs because:

a)they are smaller and weaker than the phallically wonderful U.S.A. sub.
b)those friggin' socialist bastards always travel in packs (below).
c)the U.S. lives to rescue while the Russians live to destroy!
d)capitalism rulz!
I really like this game except maybe that the first 4 or 5 levels are too easy.  And that if you are catching your breath, enemy subs on the surface are on you like Barry Wihite on a buffet (God rest his love-makin' soul).

Other than that I love the rapid-fire, and the fact that if you play your cards right you can get a high score.  None of this 4-digit nonsense... my ultimate goal is to hit a mill. Can I do it?? With the spirit of Jaques Cousteau and Barry White on my side, how can I lose???
