My Slow Descent Into Loserhood - My Atari Games
ICE HOCKEY (Activision)
Rating: 7.5
High Score (so far): 12-8

I like a game that doesn't try to be more than it is.  This is 2 on 2 hockey action.  I find that, apart from a few exceptions, Atari sports games try too hard.  This game isn't called NHL hockey or "Slapshot!" or some stupid thing.  It is ice hockey as I remember it.
That is not to say I played hockey at all.  Some say that this is because I can't skate.  I am here to set the record straight.  I can skate fine, it's just stopping that I haven't quite mastered.  But I digress.  This is the hockey that I remember.  I remember the cold January night, as I would watch 2 on 2 hockey and get drunk in the penalty box.  Sure beats skating around like a fool not being able to stop!
I like the effect (left) when you lay a guy out and he lands flat on his ars.  I also like the fact that one guy plays D while the other cherry-picks.  If you don't know what I mean by "ars" "D" and "cherry picking" you really need to spend some time above the 49th.

Who needs goalies?  Who can afford all that equipment anyways?  And who needs a net when you have a general area to shoot for?
This game is especially good if you are playing 2 player.  I suggest the following move (deke right, go back left) -- patent pending.

Also you'd be surprised how often this works on the computer.  The computer is a fair opponent, I usually have a tough time beating it.  Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose.  Just like life.

And I thought my days of getting drunk and watching 2 on 2 hockey were over!
