| BOWLING | |||||||||||||||||
Rating: 6.5 High Score (so far): 224 Ah, bowling. What game better represents the true alley experience? And the more puzzling question: why do I like this game? A riddle for the ages. Perhaps because it's relatively simple to play yet difficult to master. Note the Charlie Brown haircut, denim outfit and standard black rental shoes.

The game variations allow you to curtail the spin of your ball. But I find nothing wrong with allowing maximum curve. The day that I roll a perfect game I will change, but until then... The main problem I have is that there is very little to mock about this game.

If I was mayor of Atari town and I could change this game in 5 ways, I would: 1. Put a foul line in 2. Give the guy a beer belly (for a hint of realism) 3. Put down the little arrow aiming marks 4. Change the numbers--why does Atari work in only one font? 5. Create a more realistic ball-hitting-pins sound

Certainly this is no epic struggle of man against pins. Certainly you might tire of it after a couple of games. But you will pick it up again, play it, and put it back. So if you like bowling or you're just a loner with nothing to do but sit around your one-room apartment smoking up and wearing a worn-out army jacket, "Bowling" is the game for you.
