By joining the student union for two sessions, the post of Cultural Division Commissioner enabled me to strengthen my intellectual ability, organizational skills and disciplined work habits. I needed to be reliable to justify and approve the application of functions from different student societies in order to protect the benefit of SU members. On the other hand, I had to show the ability to identify and solve out the problems arising from the societies in order to ensure the functions going smoothly.
Being the President of Literary Club requires a more creative and initiative mind, independence, industrious and responsible. I need to come out with new ideas for activities to attract more members. I have to own advance communication skill to gain sponsorship from the company. It is essential for me to show my leadership to point out the mission of the Literary Club for the year and solve out the dispute between committee members.
I have participated the Volunteer Skills Training Workshop by Agency for Volunteer Service and had chance to apply on the activities of Wellness in Action and Community Wellness. I can acquire the knowledge on communicating with the geriatric, pediatric and disable people who are frequently encountered for my career as a health care worker.
The various training programmes of Preferred Graduate Development Programme, Leadership and Competence for Success Programme, and two exchange programmes to the USA and Guangdong have provided different input and support. They helped me to build up my self-confident, qualification and social network for my ability to organize different activities for the Student Union. The social network has enabled me to create more joined universities functions.
The HKPUSU Choir gives a consistent high quality vocal training and enables me to practice classic music such as the Creation. It provides chance for me to contribute to various annual performances and participate the high quality Hong Kong Schools Music Festival Competition in the open class SATB category.
The courses of Basic Japanese and Italian taught me the languages and the ability to evaluate the art and architecture of foreign culture. The fashion design course enables me to understand the art of clothing and the design features for each cloth.
Social dance provides me a regular exercise and improve my taste. I have also joined the high school golf team which is regarded as a sport for the high quality of life in Hong Kong and I really learnt a lot that it is a skill mix sport between accuracy and diligent plan.
