| A Brief History of ???? |
| Sometime in late 2003 - several months after their previous band (Uncle Samhain) ended - Robb Paquette and Chris Raines reunited, with one mutual goal in mind: to make the most brutal, chaotic, diverse, and evil music possible. In the beginning, another party was involved (his name was Hunter something), playing rythm guitar. Hunter was there long enough to write a couple of songs and help decide on the name of the band (which is apparently Gulgatha), but after a couple of months, he had to part ways with the band for geographical reasons. From that point, Chris and Robb basically had to start from scratch again, but they continued writing new music and searching for other members to complete the band. Eventually, they ran into their old bandmate from Uncle Samhain (Andrew Lawsin as well as Chris' friend, Justin Tingle at a local metal show, and thus, they found a bassist and a lead vocalist. Robb, Chris, Andrew, and Justin worked together as a foursome for a ear or so, spending every spare moment of their time writing and perfecting their music, and playing a few shows here and there. In late April of 2005, Justin ran into Jason Davis at the Hanes Mall in Winston-Salem, NC. Jason had tried out for Gulgatha in the past, but wasn't able to join the band because of scheduling and location conflicts. Fortunatley, by this time, the band had relocated their practice venue and Jason was able to join the band full-time. In a matter of three or four practices, Jason learned most of the music (which, if you've heard Gulgatha, you should know that's a MAJOR accomplishment), and he played his first show with the band at Brew-Ha-Ha's in Winston-Salem, NC on May 27th, 2005. In mid-August of 2005, Andrew Lawsin had to part ways with Gulgatha. A new bassist was recruited promptly, who goes by the name, "Ben". During the months of December 2005 and January 2006, Robb and Justin parted ways with the band, due to creative differences. Since then, the band has recruited a keyboardist (Wendy Sumpter), and they have been re-writing old Gulgatha material, as well as writing new material, trying to find a new band name, as well as a bassist and a lead vocalist. Things are moving swiftly and the band is sure to be back on its feet and back in the clubs within a matter of a couple of months, so keep an eye out. To Be Continued... |
