GALLEY CORNER
                                   From the Galley
(or the many other parts of our sailboats!) of each vessel comes a wealth of information, closely related to the Mother of Invention....necessity.
And we call upon Her many times for help....!

Florida's humidity plays havoc on that beautiful teak you just oiled! To keep the interior of our boat mold & mildew-free, we hang a closet-size Damprid, available at grocery stores and home depot..

Easier than the pail type, it's hanging plastic pouch filled with all that magical moisture-sucking stuff!!
Easy to store when not quite full & we want to sail, lasts a month or two.

Here is the info on the unit we use to keep the mold out of the boat. You can see the unit at www.pure-homeair.com, then go to "home" and look at the different size units.

They also carry larger commercial size units. Also I think you can purchase them at Biozone Scientific, inc. 1180 19thSt-Vero Beach, Fl 32960.Phone :772-564-2414(or maybe this is the manufacturer and they may not see retail,i am not sure.

You do have to replace the UV lamps once a  year and they are
about $39.00.We have been very happy with ours and even keep
one in the house in the kitchen  for food odors.
