| How To Read Tabs |
| Tablature is another way of writing down guitar music, often used for lute music or rock guitar. It uses sets of six lines, each one representing a string. Numbers on the lines tell you at which fret to play. E----------------------------- 1st String B----------------------------- 2nd String G----------------------------- 3rd String D----------------------------- 4th String A----------------------------- 5th String E----------------------------- 6th String When you see a number on one of the lines, it means what fret to play the note on for example, E----------------------------- String 1 B------2---------------------- String 2 G----------------------------- String 3 D----------------------------- String 4 A----------------------------- String 5 E----------------------------- String 6 So you put your finger in the 2nd fret and play the 2nd string. E----------------------------- String 1 B----------------------------- String 2 G----------------------------- String 3 D---------0------------------- String 4 A----------------------------- String 5 E----------------------------- String 6 When you see a "0" it means you play the string open. E---4------------------------- String 1 B-----------9----------------- String 2 G-------5--------------------- String 3 D---------------6------------- String 4 A----------------------------- String 5 E------------------------10--- String 6 So this means.: 4th Fret, 1st string then 5th Fret, 3rd string, then 9th Fret, 2nd string, then 6th Fret, 4th string, then 10th Fret, 6th string. |
