Beautiful
By Paige Symmons

The echo of the peaceful times
The call to march behind the lines
I want You to know that You're divine
I know I've strayed today

Every carefree, all behind
Walking surely, You beside
I don't see You before me -- You said You'd clear the mines
Was I too bad today?

Because it's been so hard, you know
Take it fast, take it slow
The lights, the dazzle; they're all show
The makeup is washed away

I see the masses stand upright
They are kinder than those with the light
This isn't real
It can't be right
The beautiful with a bad name

It never ceases to amaze me
Let it be, let it be
But I want to know who deserves the creed
You or them today?

I thought the beautiful were so inside and out
But that is not what I have found
I'm on my knees, face to the ground
This is my prayer today

If You could just tell me this
How many are there that betray with a kiss
"Here you go, men,
this one is Jesus."
I'll take a stand today

So here are the beautiful, left out, alone
The ones with no friends, no place to call home
Nothing to give, but yet give it all
I want to be like you
