| Meg Cabot is one of my favorite authors. I originally found out about her books while watching the opening credits of the movie The Princess Diaries. Then I read the book The Princess Diaries (which I will review, I promise), and then I found this book, Meg Cabot's most recent non-Princess Diaries book. This book tells the story of Samantha Madison, a regular American girl. Things aren't always perfect for her, but she can live with them (things such as having her older sister be the most popular girl in school, and having her younger sister be an eleven-year-old genius). Until her parents find out why she's getting a C- in her German class. They send her to Susan Boone's art studio as punishment, but she reasons that she can already draw well enough. So, she skips it one day. That day just happens to be the day when an assassination attempt is made on the President, and she just happens to save him. Suddenly, Sam is thrown into a whirlwind of press conferences and U.N. ambassadorships. And she might just get a boyfriend in the end. WARNING: If you are a guy, I wouldn't recommend that you read this. It's sort of romantic, and you might freak out. However, if you don't mind the romance aspect, then read it. The witty humor is hilarious. |
