| I am sure we all remember that movie with Mandy Moore in it, A Walk to Remember. Well, surprise! It's a book. I read this book, and didn't see the movie. My friends tell me that it was a good movie (they, and their moms, cried over it) and you have it from me that it's a good book. It tells the story of a normal teenage guy in the 1950's. He's not really popular, but he's not really an outcast. But he sure as heck would never date the Baptist minister's daughter, Jamie. That would be a very big social faux pas. However, an interesting turn of events has him taking her to the homecoming dance. I won't give the whole story away. It's a good, fast read. The only problem I had with it was that the character of Jamie was a little too preachy, much like the character of Stargirl in Jerry Spinelli's book Stargirl, which I will review soon. Also, I would like to warn any boys that read this review: This is not a "guy" book. It is very romantic and it will probably scare the daylights out of you. :) |
