Jennifer Allen, is originally from Portland, Oregon, and has performed extensively in New York and throughout Europe since 1992. A graduate of New York University's TISCH School of the Arts, she has worked and performed with experimental dance artists: Randy Warshaw, Jennifer Lacey, DD Dorvillier, Yvonne Meier, Donna Uchizono, John Jasperse, Jennifer Monson, Tanya Gagne, and Sam Kim.

In 1996, Allen created Candybox. It was a collaboration with Northwest dance artist Linda K. Johnson and musical trio Three Leg Torso. Candybox explored the relationship women have to the roles placed on them by society. 1997-99 saw Allen�s collaboration with theater artist/writer Drew Pisarra in a pair of duets: FUTUREWORLD and The Land of Mystery. Most recently, Allen made the dance/theater/rock opera, Lady M, with an original score created by Northwest accordionist Miss Murgatroid. Lady M was performed for both New York and Portland audiences. Currently, Allen is working on a several year project creating a series of superheroine solo portraits for different female performers entitled Goodbye to old things.

Allen�s work has been seen around New York at The Kitchen as part of the Dance in Progress Series, LadyfestEast, BRIC, Context Studios as part of the New Choreographer�s Initiative, the Downtown Art�s Festival at H.E.R.E., Movement Research at the Judson Church, Roulette Intermedium, P.S. 122�s Avant-Garde-A-Rama, Dixon Place, the Ontological Theater as part of the 7-Minute Series, the Brooklyn Arts Exchange, Galapagos Arts Space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, as well as Ladyfest DC in Washington, D.C. Full-length productions have been seen at Imago Theater, Reed College, Echo Theater, and The Hollywood Theater in Portland, OR, and at the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle, WA.

Support for Allen�s work has been provided by the Brooklyn Arts Council (BAC), the Oregon Regional Arts and Culture Council (RACC), Movement Research�s Artist in Residency program, multiple space grants from the Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX) and Spoke the Hub, and a working residency through the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art (PICA).
