Picking your pig

When picking your guinea pig there are a lot of things to look for. I would first look to see if it is healthy. How can you tell? Well, the fur of the cavy should be soft and shiny. The pig should also be plump. You don’t want it to be too fat or too skinny. Another thing that you want to look at is it’s paws and feet. Their nails should be short and not too long.

Besides health you need your guinea pig to have a good personality. You can try petting the cavies at the pet store. But while you are petting him/her they chatter their teeth, the chances are you picked the WRONG pig to pet. If the cavy does chatter its teeth it will bite you, and believe me you don’t want a guinea pig that bites!
