Godzilla vs Miki Rd.2: the Conclusion!

When SuperMechaGodzilla is blown to smithereens the crew, including Miki, escape via an escape pod. Surprisingly, none of them seem that upset about their loss, in spite of the fact that they had a giant robot blown up right underneath them, not to mention that they helped to level an impressive chunk of Japan. Then again, they don't have to pay for any of it, so what do they care?

At the request of Azusa Gojo -the woman who Baby had imprinted on- Miki happily agrees to use her powers to send Baby a song that a group of psychic children had composed after studying the harmonics given off by a collection of prehistoric plants [it's the sort of thing one has to take in stride when watching a Godzilla movie.] After hearing the telepathic music Baby realizes he should live with his super-sized step-father.

I don't know where the weird blue lighting came from. Either a blue cel got stuck over the lights that were illuminating the scene or a section of tract lighting from a demolished office building was still glowing in the debris.

Miki is one of the few characters to realize the paradox involved in fighting Godzilla. The threat of Godzilla was created by humanity putting its own short-sighted interests above anything else. [I'm doing my best not to quote Blue Oyster Cult here.] Not only did this sort of destructive mind-set create Godzilla, it is repeatedly used in the unsuccessful attempts to destroy him. All previous attempts at getting rid of Godzilla have been the equivalent of adding fuel to a fire, with the only result being that Godzilla becomes even more enraged. The attempt to defeat Godzilla with MechaGodzilla was the most symbolic -if not necessarily most practical- of humanity's misguided attempts to destroy Godzilla. As Godzilla and Baby swim off into the sunrise Miki wishes them both well. By bringing Godzilla and Baby together Miki finally finds a way to protect humanity that also allows the human race to live in harmony with world around it.

Group hug! Once you've recovered from the suprisingly touching ending to the Miki/Godzilla feud, head on back to either the Miki Shrine or the Godzilla page. Questions, comments and anything that doesn't involve more discussion of Godzilla's butt brain can be sent to [email protected]. After you catch your breath head on back to the Miki shrine.
