| FROM JULIAN TEBYE, RE: BUSH'S BLOODY WAR | |||||||||||||||||
| Dear Ron: | |||||||||||||||||
| Enjoying "Bully" Bush's Bloody War? I'm afraid I found it almost humorous when he said, "Enough of diplomacy!" His idea of diplomacy is to order someone to do something--if they don't--he gets angry--accuses them of being "cowards" or "irrelevant." | |||||||||||||||||
| I spend a lot of time in chat rooms set up to discuss the war. Amazing how many ignorant idiots want to "nuke all Muslims." And, they often come up with wildly nonsensical figures: "Saddam has executed at least 5,000 of his people." Or -"Proof" that he has chemical and biological weapons. (I love to write, "Where do you get your facts--the National Enquirer?") | |||||||||||||||||
| However, I think some of your readers may be interested in contacting an intelligent, English-speaking Iraqi, who goes by the name, Salam Pax, and lives in Baghdad. He writes some fascinating stuff, such as, "The US wants to make us democratic--they plan to do it by killing all of us." He also points out that the UN sanctions in 1991 have virtually made the Iraqi people hostages to our leader. | |||||||||||||||||
| Also, a fellow who lives in France sent him an English translation of "An | |||||||||||||||||
| Afternoon With Saddam"--which concerns a delegation from Castro in 1991 to Saddam. Anyone who has a computer and a connection to the Internet--go to: | |||||||||||||||||

| Also there is some educational stuff at: IslamOnline.net For example, there are orthodox explanations of the meaning of Jihad (Holy War). It is not nearly as fundamentalist fanatical as I thought. (Not that Osama bin Laden adheres to this milder version.) Or: "4600 Iraqis return home to fight the invaders." "Kuwait says no to war--and no to Saddam." "Saudi Arabia wants to stop the war." | |||||||||||||||||
| In the chat rooms, when I oppose this war, many right-wing conservatives accuse me of being pro-Saddam. "If you don't like this country, leave it." I carefully reply, "I love this country; it is just that I despise 'Bully' Bush and what he is doing to this country." You think it was a police state before! Ha! One-person points out that Bush used 9/11 to gain wider powers--the same way Hitler used the Reichstag fire to gain dictatorial powers. It's scary! | |||||||||||||||||
| Also, the NY Times has an article pointing out that CNN and FOX are watering down the realities of this war. People are more and more turning to "blogs"--websites which print info from all over the world--that is, it is written by contributors from all over the world--giving up to the minute news on this war. (It's not going quite as "Bully" Bush planned.) | |||||||||||||||||
| Some people have made fun of my almost fanatical recommendation of personal computers and the Internet--but, more and more, they are proving themselves to be "purveyors of peace, tolerance and understanding." (There is also the negative side--they can be used to spew intolerance and chaos.) | |||||||||||||||||
| Best regards--and let's hope we can survive this Bu__shit war! | |||||||||||||||||
