Another Damn War!
By Bonnie Briggs  E-Mail: [email protected]
So, the Americans have gone to war,
Gone into Iraq once more.
Did they think we would forget?
The joke's on them, we haven't yet.
The last Gulf War in '91,
That was a war they thought they'd won.
They bombed the hell out of Iraq,
That wasn't enough, now they're back.
They say it's to get rid of the leader,
U.S. wants their oil, every litre.
The search for Saddam is just a smoke screen,
We know what they really mean.
They search for weapons that can kill a lot,
They search for what Iraq has not.
Mass destruction and chemical arms,
Weapons that can really harm.
U.S. has these weapons, not Iraq,
Send the weapons inspectors back.
They say their bombs are "smart,"
"They strike only at the heart.
Of Saddam's offices and war rooms."
They will not cause Iraqi wounds.
We all know that's a lie,
How many Iraqis will have to die,
Before the U.S. sees the light.
And gives up this stupid fight?
Thousands have died, many are hurt,
Women and children are being hurt.
Ottawa said, "This war is wrong,"
But now they sing a different song.
Our men and equipment are over there,
And our battleships are where?
In the Gulf, aiding the U.S. Hawks,
They'd rather fight than hold peace talks.
Families are being ordered out of their homes,
They never know when the soldiers may come.
Soldiers are holding them at gunpoint,
Killed a bus full of them at one point.
What have these people done,
That warrants them facing a gun?
These people are innocent, they bear no ill,
Towards soldiers who want to kill.
The civilians only want to live in peace,
War will not and cannot lead to peace.
You don't get peace by making war,
War only leads to more war.
They say Saddam may be dead; it will be over soon,
Do you really believe that tune?
I know I don't, so I will go,
Onto the street where I will show.
That I am against this war with thousands of others,
Husbands and wives, kids and mothers.
We must remember Vietnam,
And when the U.S. went into Guam.
We stopped that war; we can stop this one,
And not at the point of a gun.
Stop this war, no blood for oil,
For peace, I would be willing to toil.
