He promises to comfort people in need Nevertheless God, who comforts the downcast, comforted us by the coming of Titus (2 Cor. 7:6). Paul is so honest. He wasn't always standing on a spiritual mountainstop, and he doesn't mind admitting it. He spends a lot of time in this book talking about his suffering, worry, tears, and broken heart. He doesn;t try to pretend that just because he loves Jesus, nothing hard ever happens. He admits to his struggles and hardships. He talks about the troubles he's faced. He is real ad vulnerable. Somehow over time, Christians have lost sight of Paul's example. Somehow we've replaced honesty with pretending. Too many christians pretend that their lives are happy and suffer in total silence. The won't admit to their own needs and weaknesses, yet wonder why God doesn't do something. God will bring cheer and comfort to those who are in need. Do you need God to comfort you? Do you need some cheering up? Then talk to the Lord. Be honest with some people who are close to you. be brave enough to say,"i love God, but life is tough right now." God may use the Holy Spirit or the body of believers or the truth of His Word-but he will bring cheer to people in need. See for yourself: Ps. 16:11; John 14:1-24; Acts 3:19
