If i'm honest, most of these bands have made a small impact already. Bearsuit doing well in Peels Festive Fifty. BRMC have had one top 40 hit already. Von Bondies have supported The White Stripes. Miss Black America are about to embark on a reasonable sized tour as well as enter the Festive Fify and finally Meanwhile Back In Communist Russia have also done well in the Festive Fifty.

Can't say I like Miss Black America or Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Even Meanwhile Back In Communist Russia and The Von Bondies are both very average indeed, Bearsuit however are indeed bloody super.

But all of them will receive a bit more coverage, just you wait and see.

Nothing That Hasn't Been Said Before...

The title implies to what I'm about to say and also to what the current 'indie' artists have to say.

When the press say 'It looks like a great year for Indie artists', I cringe. The fools, does this mean that David Gray and Starsailor will grace us with another revolutionary ballad about lost love? How sodding original.

What has happened to a band saying something daring or outrageous in their lyrics, the only bands who seem capable of this nowadays are Radiohead and Belle & Sebastian (and Morrissey if he's still alive). Bands such as Miss Black America and Manic Street Preachers don't tell me anything I haven't heard before, songs about crazy monster capitalists and their evil schemes for World domination. Sounds like one of Stalin's propaganda posters, no?

Stop the shit that is going under the title of 'indie' music nowadays, Coldplay, Starsailor et al aren't pouring their hearts out in slow emotional songs, they are just dull!

There's my elitist musical rant over for today. I didn't get to say half of what I wanted, it'd just equal even more gibberish.
