Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi (2001)

They claim that they don't sound like Belle & Sebastian but, oh yes they do! ''Country tinged pop music'' is what they are often labelled as and it's probably an accurate description, they have slow melodic songs and up-beat-dance-like-a-soul-boy songs.

Their slow but exciting single 'Eighties Fan' (produced by Stuart Murdoch) managed to get it's way in to Peels Festive Fifty nestled safely in the top ten, backed up by an impressive B-Side 'Shine Like A New Pin'. Their album 'Biggest Bluest Hi-Fi' is a rather fantastic piece of pop music and was adored by the man Peel, he even offered them another Peel session.

So, they aren't going to please everyone, however I think this is a criminally underated album/band, I rather enjoyed it, although feyer than their chums B&S and nowhere near as good, they are easy to relax too as well as to jig around to. I like that.
