| Band: Beulah Label: Shify Disco (UK) Album Releases: Handsome Western States (1997) When Your Heartstrings Break (1999) The Coast Is Never Clear (2001) Apparantly the two lead members of Beulah don't like each other very much. This hasn't stopped them producing three quality West-Coast pop albums. Their style has earned them many a justified comparison to The Beach Boys, fairly simple, but stunning alt-pop music, it's a welcome change, Beulah are typical of the Elepahnt 6 style bands and if you like most of the bands on that list such as Elf Power, Neutral Milk Hotel and Of Montreal, you'll undoubtedly enjoy their sound. I recommend 'If We Can Land On The Moon, Surely I Can Win Your Heart' for a Beulah virgin, a quality piece with blaring trumpets and there's even a nice tinkling of the ivories thrown in.
