Band: Airport Girl
Label: Fortuna Pop
Album Releases: Honey, I'm An Artist (2001)

Fianlly we see the first respectable to band to come from Nottingham since the Tindersticks. They bring with them some light-hearted but classic sounding indie-pop which is typical of the label Fortuna Pop.

They are instantly likeable and this fondness will not go away after a few listens, songs such as 'The Foolishness We Create Through Love Is The Closet We Come To Greatness' are not only annoyingly titled but they are almost epic sounding anthems. Lyrically Airport Girl are as strong as they are musically, 'Striking Out On Your Own' and 'Power Yr Trip' are witty and clever, written to compliment the upbeat foot-tapping tunes that come with them.

Overall, Airport Girl are far from complete, that is clear. However, their debut album shows a talent for producing catchy tunes and including lyrics which weren't lazily cobbled together.
