| Wedding Planning - Not for the Faint of Heart |
| Its All In The Details -
As if you thought this couldnt get any more in depth, well it can. The details are those small things that your guests may take for granted or not even notice, but you will. Remembering to buy small flower arrangements for the bathrooms, setting out mints on the tables. The votive candles having entwined hearts on them or worlds of love. Wine glass charms in your wedding colors for each glass. Table cameras with black & white film as well as color. Personalized barware such as napkins or match books, etc. (these pictures are a just a few examples of my wedding details) |
| All these little touches can be very thoughtful but they can add up and make for a surprise budget buster. The way to save yourself some expense is to buy in bulk. Oriental Trading Company is just one of the many places you can find personalized items in bulk. Another option is to look into alternative places such as ebay. In my planning I became an expert on ebay, people jokingly refer to me as the ebay queen. Bottom line Who cares where you get your wedding items. As long as you are happy with them, no one has to know you got them for a bargain. Why pay top dollar for a set of crystal toasting flutes when you can find them for half the price on ebay or another auction site? Tip# 5 Being thrifty with your money is not being cheap. |

| There are a multitude of whole sale sites and factory direct options as well as auction sites for you to find exactly what you need for your wedding. Overstock.com, Buy.com and Ebay, to name a few, are the frugal brides biggest asset. Before I got engaged I had never been on any of the aforementioned sites. After I started my planning, and suffered some sticker shock, I realized that I had to be more inventive about finding what I wanted. I turned to ebay. From rehersal dinner invites to wedding bubbles, candles to cameras, you name it and I got it on ebay. The next page shows you a list of my ebay and other purchases. When you start shopping the first thing you will notice if the word Wedding is in the title it will cost you at least twice as much as if it didnt. Disposable table cameras with cute wedding decorations on them can cost you $8.00 or more per camera, where as the plain ones can cost $4.00. Cake cutters with wedding bells tied to them could be $50, where as a set with out the bells could be $18. Its silly but its true, weddings are a business after all. Ebay was my saving grace, I saved thousands of dollars buying items on there. My tip with ebay; find what you want in a wedding magazine and then look for it on ebay. 9 times out of 10, you will find exactly what you want for much less. There are also ebay stores, these are "stores" dedicated to selling only online and that means you can rake in the savings. So what are you waiting for??? Go shop! |
