| John Keis was a veteran of the American Civil War, enlisting with Mary Barbara's brothers, Christian and William, in the 73rd Indiana Infantry, Company G. Unlike Christian and William, John was wounded at the Battle of Stones River, Tennessee in December of 1862. He was discharged from the Army on March of 1863. He would die in 1906 from complications of his war wounds. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
