Jacob John Gugle, the eldest son of Jacob Gugle and Catherine Carla, was the first sybling to come to America. On arrival in America, Jacob ventured west, eventually enlisting in the United States Army for service in the then, up-coming war with Mexico. Jacob enlisted in Company C of the 4th Ohio Infantry and fought in the conflict mentioned above, being wounded during the war, he filed for government land grants and received a large farm property around Royal Center, Indiana. This is where he settled and where two other brothers, John, and George, would arrive and settle as well. Eventually, the whole family would travel over the sea and settle down on the land, Jacob was granted. |
