1. Name
The scoeity will be called Glsgow University Earth Science Society (G.U.E.S.S)

2. Aims and objectives
2.1. To promote intrest in geology
2.2. To promote social activities and events amongst members.

3.Membership
3.1. Membership shall run concurrently with the academic year.
3.2. Full membership shall be open to matriculated student of the University of Glasgow only.
3.3.Glasgow University staff, members of the public and members of other universities may join as associate members.
3.4. Membership shall be renewed each year and the appropriate fees, as agreed by the office bearers, shall be paid.

4. Governance
4.1. The society shall be under the democratic control of membership.
4.2. Any member who is a matriculated student shall ahve full voting rights at general meetings of the society.
4.3. At any general meeting of the society, the weight assigned to the total vote of associate members must not exceed 20% of the total membership.
4.4. The society shall have the following office bearers:
President
Vice-president
Treasurer
Secretary
Social Convenor
Publicity Convenor
Editor
Departmental Representatives

4.5.Office bearers shall be voted by the members at the Annual General Meeting or at a specail general meeting called to elect a replacement during the event of vacancy.
4.6. Any full member of the society is entitled to stand for a position unless ineligible because it is reserved in order to secure representation for particular sections of the membership.
4.7. At least one office bearer should be a matriculated student and shall not have opted for SRC representation under the education act 1994.
4.8. The Annual General Meeting at which office bearers shall be elected and the societ'y accounts submitted and approved by the membership shall be called with not less than 10 working days notice to the membership.

5. Constitutional Amendments
5.1. The membership may amend the constitution at the annual General Meeting with a miniumu of two-thirds majority.
5.2. On reciept of a petition of �10 of the membership, the secretary shall give 5 working days notice of a special General meeting to consider submitted constitutional amendments.
