| The Miracles of the Green Scapular of Our Lady: My Success Stories | ||||||||||||||||

Sacramentals are one of those things for which Catholics are often ridiculed and of which many "modern" Catholics seem to be ashamed of. Wearing badges, crucifixes, scapulars or keeping holy water or a rosary on hand are too often dismissed by many Catholics today as old fashioned and out of date. Non-Catholics often level the accuse us of being superstitious for having and using these things, which has caused many to stop. When giving my cousin a Green Scapular she said that she would have never taken me for the "superstitious" type. However, much like how alot of Catholics no longer show proper venerations to images of the saints and Our Lady as used to be normal, we should use occasions like this to explain why these things are not superstitious rather than simply giving in to the Protestant way of thinking and giving up on them. By doing that we lose a valuable tool from God and Holy Church as well as a rich part of our Catholic heritage and tradition. | |||||||||||||||
| I have a number of sacramentals I make frequent use of, one of my favorites being the badge of the Sacred Heart, mostly because it has for so long been the symbol of traditional Catholic struggle around the world, from the martyrs of the Vendee to the Carlists of Spain to the Cristeros of Mexico. However, I particularly want to talk about here the Green Scapular of Our Lady. There is probably no other one sacramental I have used which has delivered more divine help than the Green Scapular. To put it simply: it does what it is supposed to do. As a result, I have had no hesitation about giving a Green Scapular to any Catholic (and some non-Catholics) I know to be without one. | The promises of the Green Scapular focus mostly on conversion, reversion and protection from the Devil, and I have seen it work in at least two of the three (I've never had the opportunity to try it on one in need of reversion). My first Green Scapular was given to me by my sister's father-in-law who eventually became my sponsor when I converted to the Catholic faith (chalk one up for the Virgin Mary). A couple of years after I came into the Church, I gave a Green Scapular to a friend of mine in Canada. Roughly a year later he too had come into the Catholic Church (that's two). I have also had nothing but success when giving the Green Scapular to those in need of protection but not at all well-disposed toward Catholic Christianity. When my father was rushed to the hospital with a potentially life-threatening blood clot, before he left I slipped a Green Scapular into his wallet. My Dad is a devout Protestant but I said the prayers for him and after only a couple of days he was fully recovered (that's three). Something similar happened to my cousin. For about a month he had been suffering from terrible migraine headaches which finally landed him in the hospital. As soon as I got there I gave his wife a Green Scapular and told her to stick it in his sock drawer for me. She was a little surprised but joined my secret plot. Four days later my cousin was released from the hospital and after a few weeks at home is now back at work and feeling normal again (that's four). I know there are some who would say that it was something else which caused these results rather than the Green Scapular, but that is how God works. God used the thoughts already at work and a couple good priests to effect the conversions, and my Dad and cousin certainly had doctors working to make them better, but God has always worked through others to perform miracles. At the end of the day, the Green Scapular has never let me down. | ||||||||||||||||

| I would urge anyone to get them a Green Scapular and use it. You are not becoming a lay brother or sister, you don't have to be invested with it and there is not alot of obligations. Just get one, have it blessed by a priest and say the short prayer to the Virgin Mary once a day or as often as you look at it and remember. You can carry it, wear it, or hide it on someone else and say the prayers for them -it will still work.
