KHABARELLI PICKUP
These two photographs below show the attack from Shota Khabarelli, with his trademark pickup against Seppo Myllylla (FIN) at the European Championships in Rostock, 1982.
In the frist photograph Khabarelli grabs the belt, and the pnat leg of Myllyla and tries to pull Myllyla on himself so he can hook his right leg. On the second photograph we can see that Khabarelli hooked in hisright leg all the way around Myllyla's left leg. Note, that unlike a lot of other representations of this technique by renowed judo coaches and atheltes throught the world, this is the correct way in which the leg should be hooked prior to the execution of the throw. I watched the training video by Edwin Beaton, the Canadian coach, and an olympian. In his video he demonstrated the Khabarelli pickup along with a lot of tother gret techniques. I was very dissapointed with his poor representation of this technique, and his demonstraion of hooking the leg was very inadequate, so this is the correct way to do this technique.
