Before recorded time, before the Gods and Goddesses of today came to power, there lived the Ancient Gods. They lived for eons, never dying never aging. However, nothing lasts forever. But it was not disaster, nor any other cataclysmic event that ended their era of life. They, instead, ended it themselves.
One of the Ancients came forth with the idea of creating a race of beings below them. The Ancients would guide them until they finally reached a level of understanding and life near the Ancients own. This idea created a rift within the Ancients. They split into two sides, one for and one against the creation of this new race, none were allowed to stay neutral. The battle lines were drawn and a war began. For time uncounted they fought neither side giving in to the other. But in the end there can be only one victor.
Those who were against the Creation gained a slight advantage and began to press the other Ancients. Intent on ending the War they marshaled their forces and launched a massive attack. The battle would ultimately decide the fate of the War and the universe itself. Those who were against the Creation began pushing the others back. It began to look as though all would be lost.
But out of the darkness he came. None knew him. None knew if he was for or against the Creation. In the end it did not matter. He appeared behind the lines of those against the Creation, and began to rip them apart. It has been said that the Ancients of lesser power were incinerated by heat of his aura alone. In the end he sided with those who were for the Creation. And in the end they were victorious. But the price they paid was great indeed.
The end of the War left all devastated. And out of the Ancients only three survived. One was Creator, he who had first devised the Creation. He who would be later called Kami-sama. One was Makai, whose name was given to the world of the dead. He who was one of those against the Creation. The last survivor was without name, he who had appeared out of nowhere to turn the tide of the War. He who would later be named Chaos. Kami-sama and Chaos agreed that they would not kill Makai. Instead they imprisoned him in a secret location.
With the War over and nearly all of the Ancient Gods dead, Kami-sama went forth and began the Creation. But things did not go as he planned. The First of his Creations rebelled against him and destroyed themselves much as the Ancient Gods had. As did his Second, Third, and Fourth Creations. Kami-sama became distraught. He began to wonder if the others had been right. Was his dream of the Creation nothing more than that, a dream? It was during this time of doubt that Chaos came to Kami-sama. With Chaos’ aid Kami-sama set forth with his Fifth Creations. And finally he succeeded. But he was not satisfied with his Creations. So once more he and Chaos went back to work. And he succeeded once more. His Fifth Creations would be immortal, the Gods and Goddesses of today. While his Sixth Creations would become mortal. And thus the creatures known as man, woman, plant, and animal were created.
And thus our story begins many years after…
