When I was going into junior high I went back to visit some old friends in Riverside County from when I was little and I found out the one of my old best friends had joined the colorguard team at her high school [she was a couple years older than me]. That day she taught me how to drop spin [thumbs up, thumbs down] and it just stuck with me. I would practice spinning brooms or anything i could get my hands on. Toward the end of my 8th grade year i begged my mom to call the high school I'd be going to and ask when colorguard try-outs would be. So eventually she got a hold of the band director who let her talk to the instructor and she let us know when and where they would be. So I went and tried out, being the youngest person there, and I made it. A month into summer, another freshman came and they let her try-out, and she made it too. We're both now the captains of the team, and she's one of my best friends. If it wasn't for that one day back when I was about 11, I don't know what I'd be doing with my life today, or with my future.
