Sudoeste's Festival - 6/8/00 - Portugal

5/8/00 - I ( + 3 people) left Oporto at 9:30 to see Guano Apes in a small town called "Zambujeira do Mar" in the south of the country, we made more or less 11 hours or travel!! We went there at 19:00 and we didn't have where to sleep 'cause it's a small village and there are the hotels and other places where you can sleep were full! So we got to ask people on the street if they wanted to rend a room!! we were almost giving up when we got it!! A good soul that gave us imediatly her home key's and didn't want we paid anything! Next day - 6/8/00 the day of the festival, early in the morning we wake to get prepared to see our friends again !So we left Odemira about 9:30 to go to Zambujeira and there we had also to took a car to leave us at Festival Sudoeste zone! We were there, we were there for the first time and we wonder how great that place were! Sun, sea!! everything! We arrived to the Festival and we wait all day to see our band, 'cause Apes were the last band to play, it was a BIG wait but it didn't matter 'cause to see Guano Apes i do everything! The band started to play with "Mine all mine", and then other songs such as :Rain,Heaven,Dodel up,Open your eyes,Living in a lie, and so one,.. the show took 2 hours (+/-) and was just wonderful!! i really can't forget! they palyed lot's of songs, they made part of "Living in a lie" video there, they kissed our flag and put down on their knees thanking us,... it's just an image you can't never forget! we love them but i'm sure they love us too! It must be wonderful to them see about 50.000 people singing their songs...They also dedicated a song to Oasis - the band that before them "received" many bottles, it was a wonderful atitude with that band i have to admit, althought i have a special hate for them!Portuguese people know why!After the show Guano Apes had time to came down to talk to the people that was still on the festival area, they gave some autographes, talked to us, and promised they would be back soon ( they came back 2 mounths later!). It was the first time i talked to them and of course it was a wonderful feeling!!they are exactly the people i thought they were! they are very humble, nice, true,... great!! it was a bad feeling when we had to back home!! we made a big travel we crossed almost whole the country and of course we wished be more time with them!! we didn't sleep that night cause we were waiting for the bus to took us back to the center of Zambujeira and there took a bus to back to Oporto, we left the most wonderful plaed of the world with some sadness ,... but it had to be that way! We arrived Oporto 24:00 or maybe more late, and we get a bus to Gaia, where we exactly live, we went home!! Making now the summary of that days, i may say that was a tiring trip, we were angry with some things that hapenned, we didn't sleep well.. we almost didn't sleep,we had to see 3 bands we don't know very well,it's was hard to get food,..... BUT, it was the best trip of my life, i loved the concert, i loved that place, i talked to Guano Apes for the first time, it was a great night with them playing their wonderful songs, i'll do all this again if it's necessary, it was hard ok,.. it was, but the satisfaction of see them again even a long way far from my home it's just unforgetable,.. they are my favourite band, i liked and like other bands, i knew and i know other famous people, i love others bands songs,... yeah i love lot's of things but Guano Apes are my Nš 1 band, my favourite one i think forever, i'll never forget their concerts specially this one,i'll never forget their words to portuguese people,i'll never specially forget their humblessness and their songs!Since they exist i'll try always to do my best to never lost them, they are wondeful musicians and they have a wonderful way of being, i admire them a lot, i respect them for eveything they get untill now they did it with lot's of work and with honesty and sometimes you see things like this in world music it's not very usualy !I LOVE YOU !! you Apes can count on me for everything and forever! bye people!
